Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has warned his team-mates that just one error could be “fatal” during the title run-in.
The Reds are currently second in the Premier League, only behind Manchester City on goal difference and with a game in hand over their rivals.
Can Liverpool end their title drought? Five key things to know…
- Liverpool haven’t won a league title for 29 years.
- The Reds are currently second in the Premier League on goal difference behind Manchester City and five points ahead of third-placed Spurs.
- However, they have a game in hand against Manchester United, which will be played on 24th February.
- They face Bayern Munich at Anfield in the Champions League last 16 next week.
- Reds goalkeeper Alisson has warned that one error could be fatal at this stage of the season.
Spurs are also just five points behind the top two, with it looking increasingly likely that the race for this season’s crown will go down to the final few days of the season.
And Alisson has urged his team-mates to remain calm as they try to end their 29-year title drought, claiming they must concentrate to avoid a potentially fatal error.
“In a moment like this, calmness is very important,” Alisson told ESPN Brasil. “Concentration, too – to be aware that one error could be fatal.
“A defeat could define the entire season. Every game is important; things change to so quickly, especially in the Premier League which has such a high level of quality.
“Every team, even the bottom side, cause trouble to the top teams at home. Bournemouth beat Chelsea 4-0. Everyone has quality so you really need to be switched on all the time.”
Liverpool face Bayern Munich next week before travelling to Old Trafford in their next Premier League outing.

Alisson: We can’t just go on emotion
Jurgen Klopp recently urged the Liverpool fans to ‘fasten their seatbelts’ and enjoy what is shaping up to be one of the closest title races for some time.
Given how long the Anfield faithful have been made to wait for a league title, nerves are bound to play a part in the stands.
Alisson, though, knows that he and his colleagues cannot allow that emotion to spill onto the pitch and affect performances.
“Fans have a lot of emotion, but we can’t just go on emotion,” the Brazilian added. “It’s important to have emotion but we can’t let it take over on the pitch.
“But if we do well on the pitch, that will make the supporters happy.”
