Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has admitted that the club is under pressure to win the Premier League title.
The Reds drew 0-0 with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, seeing them leapfrog Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, but only leading by a solitary point.
How is Liverpool’s title challenge looking? Five things you need to know…
- Liverpool lead the Premier League by one point thanks to a draw against Manchester United.
- The Reds did miss the chance to go three clear at the top with City having played a game more prior to the match.
- Liverpool have not won a league title in 29 years, going close twice in 2008/09 and 2013/14.
- And Mohamed Salah admits there is pressure on the Liverpool players to deliver a long-awaited title.
- Liverpool now have just 11 games between them and the Premier League but still face Everton, Tottenham and Chelsea before the season is up.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash, Liverpool forward Salah spoke to former club defender Jamie Carragher about the pressure of winning the Premier League title.
After Carragher discussed whether the squad should actually be enjoying the situation they find themselves in this season, Salah quickly responded to his suggestions by saying that enjoyment is simply “not enough”.
Salah said: “To enjoy it is not enough, from my side.
“At the end of the day you have a target in your mind, you have a dream, you want to win the Premier League.
“I even said that two years ago when I came – it is a dream to win the Premier League.
“You can feel it [the pressure] because you are still a human being,
“For me it is not a big deal if I win a game now or three weeks ago. I want to win each game, but for myself I said that we are playing for the Premier League, so there is pressure.”

“There is pressure from Man City”
Salah – who is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with 17 goals – believes the club were prepared to handle the pressure at the start of the season.
Manager Jurgen Klopp would have been aiming to be in the running for the Premier League title before they found themselves in their current position at this stage of the season.
The Egyptian ace believes Man City are also feeling the pressure to retain their league title ahead of a crucial few months.
He continued: “Also there is pressure for Man City. I said in November that there is pressure and it will be there until the end of the season, because when you play for the Premier League you have to accept that there is pressure.
“When you go home you can take it with you, but it can help you to work harder and focus on your game.”
Up next for Liverpool is a midweek clash against Watford on Wednesday, while Man City play host to West Ham on the same evening.
