Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has rubbished talk that Liverpool are starting to show nerves in this season’s Premier League title race.
The Reds reclaimed top spot with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday but Manchester City could leapfrog them by beating Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

- Liverpool looked to be running away with the league but City inflicted their first league defeat of the season on January 3.
- That remains Liverpool’s only loss of the season. City have lost four games (two more than last season already).
- City’s have now recovered from a slump which saw them lose to both Crystal Palace and Leicester in December.
- Since defeat at the Etihad, Liverpool have won three and drawn two, inviting City back into the race.
- If City beat Chelsea today, they will go ahead on goal difference but Liverpool will have a game in hand.
Liverpool haven’t won the league since it was named the First Division in 1990 but have come close in recent years, finishing second in the 2008/09 and 2013/14 seasons.
Since arriving at Anfield in 2015, manager Jurgen Klopp is yet to lift any silverware.
However, Robertson told Sky Sports News that the two-time Bundesliga champion isn’t nervous going into the business end of the campaign.
The Scotland captain said: “He has been calm and the backroom staff have been different class.
“When people say he is nervous or we are nervous it couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s probably been more ‘smiley’. He is just trying to get us going and it’s obviously worked.

“In terms of the players we’ve not seen any difference in any of the staff and that feeds into the players and we’ve not changed; whether we draw, win or lose it doesn’t change.
“It’s a relaxed training ground and it is all about winning games. The only thing we get annoyed about – not nervous about – is that we want to win every game.”
Following draws against Leicester and West Ham, Liverpool’s win over Eddie Howe’s side was their first taste of victory since January 19.
On bouncing back, Robertson said: “I don’t think it’s a message to any other team or anything.
“But it’s maybe a message to our fans and everyone connected to the club that we’re here.
“We fought for everything and got the result that we needed.”
Liverpool’s run in
Liverpool have come close to lifting the Premier League before. The closest they came was in the 2013/14 season when they took Manchester City to the wire.
However, late mishaps against Crystal Palace and Chelsea proved to take them out of the reckoning.
With 12 Premier League games remaining, Klopp and Liverpool know that they can ill-afford any slip ups during the run-in.
Keeping this in mind, Liverpool now head to a warm-weather training camp. This comes ahead of their Champions League last-16 fixture against Bayern Munich later this month.
As well as focusing on the Champions League, Liverpool still have a handful of huge games to get through if they are to win the league.
Crucial fixtures against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham will go a long way to deciding if the title ends up at Anfield.
