FIFA 19 winter ratings refresh: the top 10 most improved Premier League players

The hustle and bustle of the January transfer window is now long gone, which can mean only one thing.

That’s right, EA Sports are rolling out player upgrades on FIFA 19 as part of their yearly “winter refresh”.

As all deals following the winter European transfer window are finalised and no more players will be changing clubs, FIFA’s Ultimate Team game mode has gone through a ratings refresh to better reflect players’ form in the first-half of the season.

The Premier League has seen excitement both at the top and bottom of the table this season, with Manchester City currently leading the way on goal difference with 11 games remaining.

The likes of Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been rewarded for their form with minor upgrades, but there have been some slightly bigger movers.

Below are the 10 most improved Premier League players from FIFA 19’s latest ratings refresh.

Players to have improved by the same amount have been ranked based on their overall rating.

10. Felipe Anderson (+2)

Age: 25

Current club: West Ham

Position: LM

FIFA rating: 82 – 84

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Felipe Anderson (11) has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than any other West Ham player this season.

After a poor start to the season, West Ham have turned things around thanks, in part, to Felipe Anderson. The Brazilian has been instrumental for the Hammers in attack, looking close to the star promised when signing from Lazio last summer.

9. Raheem Sterling (+2)

Age: 24

Current club: Manchester City

Position: RW

FIFA rating: 85 – 87

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Raheem Sterling has been directly involved in 21 Premier League goals this season, with 12 goals and nine assists.

After a summer of under-appreciation at the World Cup, Sterling is being shown the love again, and rightly so. The winger has been in fantastic form for Manchester City as they look to retain the Premier League title.

8. Alisson (+2)

Age: 26

Current club: Liverpool

Position: GK

FIFA rating: 85 – 87

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Alisson (14) has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

Despite having a firm defence in front of him, minimising the need for wonder saves, Alisson has proven himself to be among some of the best goalkeepers in the world.

7. Toby Alderweireld (+2)

Age: 29

Current club: Tottenham

Position: CB

FIFA rating: 85 – 87

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Toby Alderweireld has made more defensive actions (159) than any other Tottenham player in the Premier League this season.

Despite his future constantly being dissected, Alderweireld has shown no signs of the rumours affecting his game. The Belgian has been his usual brilliant self, seeing his rating taken up to a more respectable 87.

6. Matt Doherty (+3)

Age: 27

Current club: Wolverhampton Wanderers

Position: RWB

FIFA rating: 74 – 77

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Only Jose Holebas (nine) has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than Matt Doherty (seven) among defenders this season.

Wolves have been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League this season with exciting attacking play. Doherty has been one of their many impressive players, providing an attacking threat from deep.

5. Richarlison (+3)

Age: 21

Current club: Everton

Position: ST

FIFA rating: 77 – 80

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Richarlison (10) has scored more league goals than any other Everton player this season.

Everton have not been too great this season under Marco Silva, but one player who is flourishing is Richarlison. The Brazilian has found form once more and is already being linked with a move to a Champions League club.

4. Lucas Digne (+3)

Age: 25

Current club: Everton

Position: LB

FIFA rating: 78 – 81

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: No defender has created more chances than Lucas Digne (46) in the Premier League this season.

One of three signings from Barcelona last summer, Digne has ensured Everton will not miss Leighton Baines when the Englishman eventually calls time on his career.

3. Virgil van Dijk (+3)

Age: 27

Current club: Liverpool

Position: CB

FIFA rating: 85 – 88

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Virgil van Dijk (111) has won more aerial duels than any other Liverpool player in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool have conceded just 15 goals in 26 Premier League games so far this season and it has largely been down to the influence of Van Dijk. The Dutch centre-back has been a rock for Jurgen Klopp and will be vital as the Reds battle on two fronts.

2. Lucas Torreira (+4)

Age: 23

Current club: Arsenal

Position: CDM

FIFA rating: 78 – 82

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Lucas Torreira has won more tackles (33) than any other Arsenal player in the Premier League this season.

After being slowly eased into the Arsenal set up, Torreira wasted no time in becoming one of the Gunners’ best players. The Uruguayan has been wonderful in his all-round play so far this season and looks set to be around for a long time.

1. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (+6)

Age: 21

Current club: Crystal Palace

Position: RB

FIFA rating: 70 – 76

(Image via Futhead)

Key stat: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (66) has won more tackles than any other player in the Premier League this season.

Your wingers may not like him, but EA Sports certainly do. Wan-Bissaka is having a fine aeason at Crystal Palace, and it has seen him finally make the push to a gold card.
