Former Chelsea loanee Patrick Van Aanholt has urged promising youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi to follow his heart regarding his future.
Despite not moving to Bayern Munich in January, links between Hudson-Odoi and the German giants are still strong.

- He made his Chelsea first-team debut at 17 years old in an FA Cup win against Newcastle in January 2018.
- Bayern Munich made multiple bids, climbing up to £35m for his services in January.
- Hudson-Odoi appeared to be open to the move and handed in a transfer request which was denied by Chelsea.
- And Patrick van Aanholt, a victim of Chelsea’s loan system, believes the teenager needs to follow his heart and not listen to those around him.
After a couple of years at PSV, Van Aanholt arrived in Chelsea’s youth setup in 2007. However, as is the case with many Chelsea academy graduates, he had to find first-team football elsewhere.
This came in the form of loan spells at Coventry, Newcastle, Leicester, Wigan and Vitesse before a permanent move to Sunderland in 2014.
In seven years as a Chelsea player, Van Aanholt made just six first-team appearances for the club with two coming in the Premier League.
Since his permanent move to Sunderland he’s made 166 Premier League appearance for the Black Cats and Crystal Palace.
Speaking about Hudson Odoi on Goals on Sunday, he said: “He’s in a different position than I was. He’s playing games, he’s playing loads of games.
“I don’t know what’s going on in his head or what people are telling him so I can’t decide for him.
“But the other thing I’d say is he’s just got to follow his heart and see what his heart says and where it leads to.
“For him, it’s good to play first-team football because he’s a fantastic player. You can see now, it’s like he’s been there for years.
“I think the better you play, the better the money will be and the money will come eventually if you keep playing.”

Can Hudson-Odoi make Stamford Bridge his own?
When Big Ben called an end to deadline day, many Chelsea fans breathed a huge sigh of relief that they still had Hudson-Odoi.
The 18-year-old is a bright spark who has proven this season that he can force his way into the Chelsea first-team. So far this season, he has played 11 times in all competitions for the club and impressed most of the time.
This was seen especially in January when Sarri gave him a string of games in which he excelled in.
However, Hudson-Odoi’s promise isn’t the only reason why he can make Stamford Bridge his own in the coming years.
Although might not be Chelsea’s first choice winger right now, he could be very soon. Willian and Pedro have both reached 30-years-old and their performances have started to reflect that lately.
Also with Eden Hazard possibly moving in the summer, this could see him and Christian Pulisic become Chelsea’s wingers for the foreseeable future from the summer onwards.
