Paris Saint-Germain manager, Thomas Tuchel, has insisted that he doesn’t want World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe to play the same way as Brazilian superstar Neymar.
PSG will come up against Manchester United next Tuesday in the Champions League round-of-16.
Just how good is Mbappe? Here is what you need to know…
- The Frenchman moved to PSG from AS Monaco last season.
- The deal cost the oil-rich Ligue 1 champions a massive €145 million plus €35 million in add-ons.
- Since then, Mbappe has established himself as one of the most exciting attacking prospects on the planet.
- He has scored 43 goals in 69 appearances in all competitions for Tuchel’s side.
- Last summer, Mbappe was a major part of France’s World Cup winning squad, scoring in the 4-2 final victory against Croatia.
PSG playmaker Neymar has been ruled out of action for at least the next 10 weeks, which includes the club’s two fixtures against Manchester United in the Champions League.
But rather than try and mould Mbappe into the Neymar-shaped hole in the PSG starting eleven, Tuchel has told reporters that he is happy to let the French starlet play his natural game.
“I don’t want Kylian to play like Neymar and keep the ball,” Tuchel said. “Kylian is incredibly dangerous in the final move and I want him to stay that way.”
PSG fell to their first Ligue 1 defeat of the season against Lyon recently but still sit 10 points clear at the top of the table.
The Parisians face Bordeaux on Saturday.

Will this be PSG’s year?
It seems every year that PSG are mentioned as one of the favourites to win the Champions League.
Yet, year after year, they fail to do any significant damage on the competition, failing to progress past the quarter-final stage in the past 10 years.
Their consistent financial investment has failed to see them bypass the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus as one of the European giants, so far
In fact, across the past six years, they have exited the competition at the hands of Barcelona three times, with other exits coming at the hands of Real Madrid and two Premier League giants in Chelsea and Manchester City.
If this is to be their year, they will need to first get past an in-form Manchester United side who, under caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have transformed their season and look a tough opposition to beat.
If they can progress to the quarter-finals, anything is possible.
