Chelsea winger Pedro has admitted Eden Hazard is the club’s star player but has praised his Spanish teammate Alvaro Morata, claiming the striker is also ‘very important’ to the team.
Hazard has been Chelsea’s key man this season, with his talismanic performances yielding seven goals and four assists from 10 Premier League outings so far.
That form has contributed to Maurizio Sarri’s men making an unbeaten start to their Premier League season, and Pedro has admitted that Hazard is Chelsea’s standout player.
The former Barcelona man told Chelsea TV: “He’s the most important player here. He’s a star for us.
“Eden is playing very good. It’s very good news for us that he’s in very good form.”

While Hazard has been undeniably brilliant this season, the Blues have also been boosted by the new-found form of Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.
The 26-year-old had a tough first season at Stamford Bridge last campaign but has bagged five goals in his last six games for Chelsea in all competitions.
And Pedro, 31, was keen to back his compatriot’s abilities, as well as his importance to the Chelsea side, adding: “He has the mentality to score goals and help the team, that’s the best way for him.
“We are happy because he’s a very good striker. He runs a lot and scores goals, now he’s in a very good moment so this is the way for him. Scoring goals is very important for him and the team.”
Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League table, unbeaten so far and taking 27 points from their opening 11 fixtures.
The main component to Chelsea’s possession-based style of play is the central midfield area, with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesc Fabregas all competing for positions in Sarri’s starting XI.
However, despite the likes of Loftus-Cheek and Fabregas only getting limited minutes on the pitch, Pedro believes this competition can only be healthy for the club, helping to keep standards high.
“It’s very difficult for Maurizio to choose the right decision but that’s good for the team, it makes us strong on the pitch,” said Pedro.
“Also it’s good to have options. Ruben is in very good form, also Cesc, Jorginho, Kovacic, Barkley, so it’s very good for the team.”
