Is N’Golo Kante being misused positionally at Chelsea?
The 2018 World Cup winner is arguably the world’s best defensive midfielder. What cannot be argued with is that new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is not playing Kante at the base of his midfield. So is Sarri squandering the true talents of (reportedly) the highest earner in his squad? The answer might not be so simple and, depending on how you define ‘defensive’ midfielder, actually shines a spotlight on problems in terms of tactical terminology in how we talk about modern football.
