Two goals from Aaron Mooy was enough to secure the victory for Huddersfield Town away at out of form Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It took just six minutes for Huddersfield to shock the hosts when a cross from Eric Durm across the Wolves box found Aaron Mooy, who calmly placed his shot into the bottom left corner of Rui Patricio’s goal to nab his first goal of the season.
Wolves were very poor in the opening 45 minutes are would have been hoping for a lot better in the second half. They did step it up as the game continued and had a chance cleared off the line, just.
As the game reached its final stages, the natural intent from Wolves to get an equaliser meant the match opened up at both ends of the pitch.
Huddersfield were the side to take advantage and Mooy stepped up once again to fire a free kick past Patricio to double his side’s lead. The second goal took the game away from the hosts and the match finished with Huddersfield smiles and Wolves grimaces.
Here are some of the winners and losers from Huddersfield 2-0 away victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Winner: Aaron Mooy
The former Manchester City man didn’t take long to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Just eight minutes in, Mooy placed an expertly controlled strike into the back of the net to give the Terriers a surprisingly early lead at Molineux.
Mooy’s free-kick in the second half was just what his side needed as they fought to hold onto their vital lead.

His play in the middle of the park was arguably more impressing. With his neat touch and ability to pick a pass, Mooy was at the heart of Huddersfield’s play today.
His movement and demand of the ball seemed to panic Wolves who couldn’t cope with the intensity that Mooy and his teammates played with today.
Known throughout the Premier League as one of Huddersfield’s key players, it is clear to see why after today’s performance.
Loser: Wolves
After such a blistering start to life back in the Premier League, the top Midlands side have slowly started to fall further down the table with their form deteriorating week after week.
Including this afternoon’s result, Wolves have only picked up one point from the last 15 available and haven’t won a game in the Premier League since the beginning of October.
Of course, they have plenty of time to pick up further points as the season progresses. The main concern is that they have lost to the likes of Watford, Brighton & Hove Albion and now Huddersfield within the last few weeks, all teams considered on a similar level to themselves.
Today they looked slow, uninspired and easy to contain which will be a big concern going into the busy Christmas period.
Winner: Christopher Schindler
The penalty hero at Wembley Stadium in the 2016 Champions play-offs, last season’s ‘Player of the Season’ for the Terriers, and now Schindler is doing his best once more to further inspire his side to a third successive season in the Premier League.
His appearance for Huddersfield today marked his 50th appearance in the Premier League for the club, making him the first to do so with the Yorkshire side.
Club boss David Wagner will be impressed with his performance today, with his grit and determination the personification of Huddersfield’s successful performance at Wolves.
Loser: Nuno Espirito Santo
The Wolves boss will be scratching his head after yet another performance that didn’t showcase his side’s maximum potential and ultimately left them without any points.
This is the worst form Wolves have been in for a long time. It is the first time NES’s side have lost three home games in a row since February 2017.
It could be argued that NES is a little stubborn with his tactics but that is perhaps understandable, given their form last season and at the start of this campaign.
Now will be the time to see what NES can get out of his Wolves side, with his job now to transform this struggling squad back into the tough Premier League opposition they were a mere month ago.
Winner: Huddersfield
Wagner’s side did their supporters proud today. They looked more dangerous in the final third and defended doggedly throughout the match – especially in the second half – which helped seal them the win.
The result was almost sealed before kick-off. Huddersfield have now won 11 of the last 13 fixtures against Wolves which is highly impressive whoever the opposition.
17% – Wolves have scored a league-low 17% of their Premier League goals in the first half of games this season (2/12), while Huddersfield have scored a league-low 17% of theirs in the second half (1/6). Zigzag. #WOLHUD

Mooy’s second strike also means that the Terriers have scored more than once for the first time in their last 23 attempts in the Premier League.
Huddersfield will be able to look at the league table a little easier too, with today’s win pushing them up to 14th after starting the day bottom of the pile.
Once again this season’s objective is to stay in the Premier League. Drawing with West Ham United and Burnley whilst beating Fulham and Wolves means they are doing their best of late to fight among the relegation pack.
Loser: Raul Jimenez
The Mexican looked off the boil today as Wolves just lacked any real cutting edge to their play in the final third.
A rare opening presented itself to Jimenez who found himself one-on-one with the Huddersfield goalkeeper. Rather than test the man in the sticks, Jimenez wasted a fantastic opportunity to get his side back in the game.
Before today, Jimenez had been directly involved in seven goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances for Wolves but he certainly didn’t come close to adding to that today.
Of Jimenez’s three goals this season, two have come from open play. If he watches back his performance from today he will surely tell himself “must do better”.
