Fabinho's wife responds to PSG rumours and all-but confirms Liverpool midfielder's future

The wife of Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has seemingly attempted to pour cold water over ongoing rumours that the Brazilian could be set for a move to PSG.

Reports in France have suggested that Thomas Tuchel’s side will look to lure the former Monaco man away from the Reds in January, but a tweet from the players partner on Tuesday night would seem to imply that those rumours are unfounded.

Fabinho to PSG – Could it actually happen?

  1. The 25-year-old signed for Liverpool in May for a fee said to be in the region of around £43 million.
  2. PSG boss Thomas Tuchel name checked Fabinho as one of Europe’s best holding midfielders in September.
  3. The Ligue 1 leaders are set to face Liverpool in a crucial Champions League encounter on Wednesday.
  4. A tweet from Rebecca Tavres, Fabinho’s wife, suggests that the midfielder will not be leaving the Reds.
  5. Fabinho has made just five starts for Liverpool since his arrival at the club.

Tavares has become something of an unlikely fans favourite since her partner signed for Liverpool in the summer and has built up a following of over 56,000 on her Twitter page.

She regularly posts support for her husband and his team and seems to be very much enjoying life in England.

On Tuesday, the back page of French newspaper L’Equipe ran a story claiming that PSG were set to attempt to sign Fabinho in January.

There have even been suggestions that a move to the French capital has long since been the players ‘dream’, with a number of Fabinho’s Brazil team-mates currently playing for the club.

However, Tavares’ rather cryptic tweet on Tuesday evening would seem to suggest that there are nothing in the rumours and that Fabinho is going nowhere.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about the speculation prior to his side’s win over Watford last Saturday and insisted that selling Fabinho so soon after his arrival at the club would be “crazy”.

“He used the time to adjust to what we want him to do. That was really good. The last games he played were pretty much all good or better. So, all fine,” the German continued.

“Of course he will not leave. I don’t talk about transfers but if you want to ask, nobody leaves here. That would be completely crazy – he doesn’t want to, it’s only the crazy world out there that people, if they don’t play in the last five games, immediately open kind of a transfer market. We are not involved in that.”
