The top 10 Football Manager 2019 wonderkids from the Premier League

Friday marks the release of one of football’s most anticipated games of the year: Football Manager 2019.

Now is the time to pick your team, sort your tactics, sign new players but most importantly, get comfortable because you’re going to be playing this legendary simulation game for quite some time.

As ever, the game has the ability to go on and on and on, meaning that buying younger players may give you more of a chance in developing them into world-beaters, adapt them into your style of play or even sell them on for the big bucks.

But which youngsters are the best of the best?

Here are the 10 best wonderkids with the highest potential rating on Football Manager 2019 in the Premier League – each player must be 21 or under to make the cut.

10. Trent Alexander-Arnold – (170 potential)

Club: Liverpool

Top attributes: Crossing, determination, teamwork, work rate, acceleration and pace.

The Liverpool full-back enjoyed a superb start to life as a professional football following his impressive debut season for the Reds.

Establishing himself in the starting eleven for Jurgen Klopp’s side, he also provided a perfect balance to Andrew Robertson at full-back as they made their way to the Champions League final.

Whether you can convince the youngster to move away from Liverpool will depend on how much finance you have. If you take over from Klopp, you have a right-back ready to play for many years to come – or even a centre-midfielder.

9. Phil Foden – (175 potential)

Club: Manchester City

Top attributes: Agility, flair, vision, dribbling, first touch, passing, and technique.

The young Englishman has broken through a seemingly impossible Manchester City system – full of high-profile and well-established stars – to get a taste of first team football at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola has a lot of faith in Foden who can operate across the midfield, played best as an attacking force through the middle.

His talent is such, that if he isn’t playing regular football on Football Manager, he may become unsettled and opt to leave the club in the pursuit of consistent football.

That may be where you come in?

8. Gabriel Jesus – (175 potential)

Club: Manchester City

Top attributes: Finishing, technique, work rate, acceleration and pace.

Another Manchester City star who has seen more of the limelight than our previous guy and may well be the answer to City’s problems when club legend Sergio Aguero finally ends his time in Manchester.

A Brazilian international with years on his side and time to still develop into one of the most dangerous forwards in world football.

Price may be an issue here but if you somehow get your hands on Jesus, his talents will no doubt be heavenly to watch.

7. Joe Gomez – (175 potential)

Club: Liverpool

Top attributes: First touch, tackling, composure, determination and all physical stats.

The football community are highly impressed with the sudden emergence of Gomez this season and it’s clear to see why.

Liverpool seem to have finally found a solution to their defensive frailties that has seen them lose out on matches in the past.

FM have realised that Gomez has the ability to transform into one of the best defenders of his age group, if he isn’t that already of course.

6. Wilfred Ndidi – (-9)

Club: Leicester City

Top attributes: Tackling, anticipation, determination, work-rate, natural fitness and stamina.

Leicester City have a habit of picking up younger players and turning them into superstars. Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire and the superstar that is N’Golo Kante, Ndidi may well fall into the same category.

Signed in early 2017, Ndidi has slowly become an important player in the middle of the park for Claude Puel’s side as they continuously showcase themselves as ‘the best of the rest’ in the Premier League.

In Football Manager, ‘-9’ potential means that their potential rating will range between 150-180, a very high standard of player indeedy (sorry, not sorry).

If you fancy taking Ndidi off Leicester’s hands, expect competition from some of the biggest club’s in European football.

5. Tahith Chong – (-9 potential)

Club: Manchester United

Top attributes: Dribbling, aggression, acceleration, agility and pace.

The 18-year-old may well be floating around the Old Trafford youth squads at present but there is no doubting the his potential ability.

The right-winger moved from Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord in 2016 to join England’s most successful club and perhaps Jose Mourinho will be the man to promote Tahith Chong to his matchday squad.

If not, then Chong’s transfer fee may well be lower than other names on this list due to his lack of first-team football, so if he becomes available, snap him up fast.

4. Claudio Gomes – (-9)

Club: Manchester City

Top attributes: Aggression, bravery, work-rate, agility, balance and natural fitness.

Another member of the Manchester City elect and another Gomes to add to our ranks, the Frenchman has bee nicknamed “N’Golo Kanté” by his teammates. So, he’s not bad then.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder has had a snippet of first-team for Guardiola’s side but will undoubtedly be searching for more as he strives to improve upon the reputation that he is already building for himself.

With 33-year-old Fernandinho edging closer towards his later years in football, City may well have a ready-made replacement in Gomes if given the opportunity. If not, fancy a bid?

3. Juan ‘Cucho’ Hernandez – (-9)

Club: Watford

Top attributes: Finishing, penalty taking, determination, flair, agility, balance and pace.

Currently on-loan at newly-promoted La Liga outfit Huesca, Hernandez is already attracting a lot of attention from some of the biggest clubs on the planet.

In fact, Barcelona are reportedly interested in bringing the Colombian striker to Camp Nou having scored 16 league goals in 35 league games last season.

On loan for the current campaign, if you find yourself in charge of the Hornets you may well have a battle on your hands to keep the talented forward at Vicarage Road.

2. Diogo Dalot – (-9)

Club: Manchester United

Top attributes: Technique, determination, natural fitness and stamina.

The former Porto man was so impressive last season that he forced Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to bring the young defender to Old Trafford.

Yet to establish himself in the starting line-up for the Red Devils, principally because of injury, it is only a matter of time before the 19-year-old struts his stuff on a regular basis and showcases why Mourinho has invested heavily in the right-back.

Good stats already, you think that with just one full season Dalot will transform into one hell of a player.

And coming in at number 1…

1. Marcus Rashford – (-9)

Club: Manchester United

Top attributes: Dribbling, finishing, technique, determination, flair, work-rate and nearly every physical attribute.

What can possibly be said about a player who has already drawn so much praise from football spectators up and down the country?

It already seems like Rashford has been around for quite some time, with his place in both the Manchester United line-up and within the England squad a given these days.

You will get a solid 15 years from this man at the very highest level, with his career in real life just exciting.
