Chelsea have just signed the world’s best striker – Romagnoli

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli believes Chelsea have signed the ‘best striker in the world’ despite his struggles at the San Siro.

The Argentine striker has joined Chelsea on loan until the end of the season, with an option of another year, and the Milan captain thinks the London club have signed a world-class player.

Can Higuain fire Chelsea into the Champions League? Five key things to know…

  1. Higuain was very successful when working with Maurizio Sarri at Napoli
  2. During his time working under the Italian coach, Higuain scored 91 goals in 146 appearances.
  3. Higuain joined Juventus in 2016 and scored 55 goals in two seasons with the Turin giants.
  4. He joined Milan on loan in the summer and scored six times in 15 Serie A games before moving to Chelsea to solve their striker crisis.
  5. Despite struggling at the San Siro, Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli thinks he is still the world’s best.

Higuain has been reunited with his former manager, Maurizio Sarri, and if the Italian coach can get the best out of the 31-year-old then Chelsea should improve their strike rate.

The Stamford Bridge side have scored just 45 times in the Premier League this season, less than any other side in the top six.

Often, they have resorted to using Eden Hazard as a striker but the Belgium international has not looked comfortable in his new role.

Higuain’s arrival will give Sarri a natural striker to select and Romagnoli thinks it could be a very successful spell for his former team-mate.

“I still think he is the best striker in the world,” the defender said at a recent event in Milan.

“I am sorry he decided to leave but we respect his decision. He is a friend of mine and if he is happy I am ok with it.

“Now we have other players that won’t make us regret his departure.”

Romagnoli: Piatek can fire Milan to the Champions League

Milan allowed Higuain to leave after signing a replacement in Genoa’s Polish striker, Krzysztof Piatek. Milan are hoping to reach the Champions League this season and Romagnoli thinks Piatek can help them achieve their goal.

“We enjoy having him [Piatek] here and we hope he can keep scoring at least one goal per game,” he added. “We hope to win many more games so we can reach the Champions League.

“Piatek’s impressed me with his desire and hunger. You can see he wants to show what he’s all about and that’s important. He’s young and on the right path.”

Chelsea are almost certainly out of the title race, trailing the top two by 12 points, but they still sit in fourth and the addition of a proven goal scorer could help them maintain their slim advantage over both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Sarri’s side face a difficult trip to the Etihad on Sunday as they look to put a dent in Manchester City’s title chances.
