Gary Neville has compared Anthony Martial to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Frenchman’s superb individual effort against Fulham on Saturday.
Martial, 23, made a perfect return to the Red Devils’ starting eleven with an impressive outing at Craven Cottage. The forward began with an assist for compatriot Paul Pogba who put them ahead after 14 minutes.
Martial then grabbed United’s second goal with a brilliant individual effort. The electric attacker picked up the ball in his own half and then charged at Fulham’s defenders, taking it skilfully past two before putting a composed finish beyond a sprawling Sergio Rico.
The 23-year-old’s effort impressed former United right-back Gary Neville who compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo after he found the back of the net for the ninth time in the league this campaign.
“Magic from Martial,” he said during commentary on Sky Sports. He’s been a threat in the first 20 minutes like you wouldn’t believe.

“I remember Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a goal over the far side some years ago that wasn’t too dissimilar. This is equally as brilliant.
“It’s put Manchester United into a fantastic position.”

Anthony Martial has now been directly involved in 50 Premier League goals (33 goals, 17 assists), more than any other player since his debut. Martial reached that impressive haul in 12 fewer games (106) than the Portuguese superstar (118), so maybe the comparison is not without merit.
United’s 3-0 victory puts them back in the top four for only the second time this season, and continues their unbeaten run across all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived in December.
United face a fiercely competitive run of fixtures when they leave west London. They face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, followed by Chelsea in the Cup and then Liverpool when they return to Premier League action at the end of the month.
