Overmars rules out January sale of Ajax wonderkids De Ligt and De Jong

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to Juventus and Inter Milan, who are monitoring young talents Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong respectively.

Widespread reports suggest that the Old Lady have made De Ligt their primary defensive target, with Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci all advancing into their 30s.

Meanwhile, Inter are said to be monitoring the situation of De Jong, who has already made 50 appearances for the Ajax first team.

But de Godenzonen’s Sporting Director and former Arsenal winger Overmars has stressed that no one will be leaving the club in January with the club currently trying to overturn a five-point deficit to PSV in the Eredivisie.

Overmars told Fox Sport (via Football Italia): “I think everyone knows our stance. That is not to make sales in the winter. There’s no chance, no matter what amount anyone offers.”

Both youngsters are the latest to come off the famed Ajax production line and have 14 caps for the Dutch senior national team already, despite their young age.

Other giant clubs from around Europe, including the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City, have been keeping tabs on the pair and Ajax will want to get one final strong season out of them before they leave the club.

Ajax are currently second in the Eredivisie, having won eight of their opening ten games, drawing one and losing the other.

They sit five points ahead of arch-rivals Feyenoord but five behind title rivals PSV Eindhoven, their next game is against Willem II on Saturday evening.
