Romelu Lukaku has been left out of Manchester United’s 18-man matchday squad to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Jose Mourinho dropped Lukaku for the 2-1 win against his former club Everton last week, but the Belgian was nowhere to be seen when the team to face Eddie Howe’s side was announced.
When asked to explain the absence of his No.9, Jose Mourinho told BT Sport the following: “In training yesterday, after the press conference, he felt something that needs to be studied in the next couple of days.
“So Lukaku has not come and we decided to start with Alexis.”
Despite not scoring at Old Trafford since March, Lukaku’s away goals have been vital – a 2-0 win against Burnley earlier an example of that.
He also has a fantastic record against Bournemouth, scoring in each of his last three games, including a four-goal haul in a 6-3 win during his final campaign with Everton.
Marcus Rashford led the line at Old Trafford last Sunday, however, the 21-year-old has now suffered the same fate as Lukaku, dropping to the bench as the returning Sanchez takes his place up front.

As for the rest of the side, Ashley Young captains the Red Devils for the fifth consecutive game whilst a midfield trio of Nemanja Matic, Fred and Paul Pogba start together for the second week in a row.
Anthony Martial keeps his place on the left-wing having scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances. Should the Frenchman find the net against Bournemouth, he will have managed to extend his scoring streak to four games for the first time since making the move to Old Trafford.
The Cherries, meanwhile, have reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation despite experimenting with a back three in their last two games.
David Brooks, the £11.5m summer signing from Sheffield United, starts up front alongside Callum Wilson in the absence of Josh King who has been ruled out with a foot injury.
The 21-year-old’s place on the right has been filled by Junior Stanislas with the in-form Ryan Fraser keeping his place on the left.
