RANKED: Every confirmed Women’s 2019 World Cup home kit from worst to best

As with every international tournament, kit manufacturers have been working overtime to bring out new designs to dazzle punters the world over.

The 2019 Woman’s World Cup is no different, with 24 nations all trying to compete while looking stylish in a kit that accurately represents the history and culture of their country.

So far all but three nations – Cameroon, Thailand and Japan – have released their home kits ahead of this summer’s tournament in France.

With this in mind, Squawka Football has ranked, from worst to best, every home kit going to be on display at the Women’s World Cup.

Have a read and see if you agree with our picks….

21. Canada

If you suffer from insomnia may we point you towards the Canadian World Cup kit as it’s bound to send you off to sleep in no time.

Must have taken a ‘designer’ ages to come up with this one.

20. USA

Again, this one comes straight from the uninspiring school of beige kit designs.

Nothing jumps out at you with it and when you think of such classics as the 1994 effort this is as forgettable as they come.

19. South Korea

Is Nike using the same design team for the last three nations?

Another example of minimalist interpretation leaves this kit offering minimalist glamour or, in fact, anything worth getting excited about.

18. England

We know England love the white design but it is hard to find anything on this offering that has actually been ‘designed’ at all.

Some might call it classy others might label it boring, we are more of the latter opinion. If this kit were a biscuit it would be a digestive – a plain one.

17. New Zealand

If the Kiwis were going for an ‘it’ll be all white on the night’ theme here then they succeeded admirably but it does kind of leave it looking as interesting as a librarian’s personality contest.

16. Brazil

Nothing wrong with this kit at all, in fact, it screams Brazil just like every other yellow and blue offering over the last few years.

Not enough has been done to this to freshen up a well-trodden design here so they lose some brownie points.

15. Chile

Not the best but not the worst from the Chile camp with this one.

The simple offering works well but doesn’t warrant a higher place in the rankings for exactly that reason.

14. Spain

Another classic Spanish kit, inspired by the 1994 version, that does well to represent the European nation without offering too much in the way of new trimmings. A solid effort from Adidas.

13. Scotland

The Scottish kit works very well without being too flashy.

Adidas hasn’t put a huge amount of effort into this but that might actually be a good thing as it looks pretty cool.

12. Argentina

This is exactly the same as the men’s kit and that it no bad thing.

Classic colours represented in a strong design that will be both pleasing on the eye and acceptable to the traditionalists.

11. Italy

The latest Italian kit was a hit and this is exactly what Italy’s women will be wearing in France this summer.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and that has produced an excellent home shirt for the Azzurri.

10. China

Nike has produced a very nice look with the China home kit.

Carried over from 2018 this kit has a decent contrast of the yellow and red seen on China’s flag and makes for a classy shirt – good effort.

9. Sweden

The Swedish kit is another exclusive offering from Adidas and they have produced a really nice shirt with this one.

The classic yellow and blue are complemented by grouped-lines cascading down the side of the shirt – works really well.

8. Jamaica

via Umbro

Umbro has produced a very cool shirt for Jamaica with this offering.

Unlike the away shirt, which will split opinion, the home top is classy and comprises a nice touch of the classic yellow, green and black that the world knows Jamaica for.

7. Netherlands

Not to everyone’s liking mainly due to the slightly weird tie-dye effect that marks the middle of the shirt but the orange of the Netherlands is pretty hard to get wrong.

Nike has produced a nice simple offering with this one and it does the job.

6. South Africa

Another Nike kit that hits the spot thanks to its striking look without ever being over complicated.

South Africa did not receive a new one specifically for the tournament but that is probably a good thing when you have sleeves as nice as these.

5. France

Simple yet classy – these Nike offering were made exclusively for the French woman’s team and the home shirt is a big hit.

Plain blue shirts with white shorts and red socks, what more could you ask for when thinking of the French?

4. Nigeria

The same as the men’s kit from the 2018 World Cup, but who could complain?

Simply a brilliant kit that deserves at least one more tournament before being retired in the retro bin of shirts gone by.

3. Australia

This one is a real winner. The home shirt was designed specifically for the World Cup and it is just superb.

Even if it doesn’t float your boat at least the creators have come up with something unique and 100% Australian in look – extra points for originality with this one.

2. Norway

Norway’s shirt is another Nike design but again it offers something different from all the others on offer.

The way the colours bleed into each other as you go down the shirt really works and the socks complement the whole number – almost as striking as the fjords themselves.

1. Germany

The only Squwka writer that didn’t rank this shirt at number one was the one writing this article but democracy has won through! Germany have been given an exclusive kit especially for the tournament by Adidas and they have produced a stunner.

A pixelated flag draped across the front is a massive design winner, giving this kit first place in the Squawka rankings.
