AC Milan star Krzysztof Piatek has revealed his admiration for former Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Arsene Wenger.
Piatek was a big fan of the Gunners when he was growing up in Poland and loved the style of play inaugurated by Wenger in north London and admired fellow strikers Henry and Bergkamp.
Piatek’s rise to fame: Five key things to know…
- Piatek began his career with Polish outfit Zaglebe Lubin before moving to Cracovia.
- Signed by Genoa from Cracovia last summer, the 23-year-old 19 goals in 21 matches, convincing Milan to make a £30.9m move in January, replacing Gonzalo Higuain.
- Piatek has excelled in his short tenure, scoring eight goals in nine games since arriving at Milan.
- The Rossoneri returned to the top four after he arrived with all his goals and they’re now in third place.
- Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Quagliarella are the only players in Series A to score more league goals this season than Piatek .
The Poland international has been on fire this season and has scored 27 goals in 30 games, notching eight in nine appearances since arriving at AC Milan in January.
In a Q&A with children, the 23-year-old told Tuttosport: “When I was a child I was an Arsenal fan.
“I loved the style of Wenger and I admired players like Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.”
As well as being known for his prolific form in front of goal the Pole has become renowned for his gun-firing celebration.
He added: “It’s a habit now and it brings good luck so I am not going to change it.
“I see people go crazy for this celebration here in Italy. I loved Genoa. I had a good time there. I loved the sea, there was good weather and good cuisine.”

Arsenal may regret being so tight with their purse strings
The Gunners have not given Unai Emery the biggest budget in the world, the Spaniard was only handed £45m to play with in the summer and the Londoners’ only move in January was the loan of Denis Suarez from Barcelona.
While Arsenal do have a prolific goalscorer in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, another striker of that mould could’ve made Arsenal into serious contenders this campaign.
Instead Piatek is now focused on restoring Milan to their former glory and if he carries on in the same form in the season’s to come, Arsenal might really be regretting not taking advantage of the Polish forward’s admiration for the club.
