Maurizio Sarri has insisted he ‘only wants players that want to play for Chelsea’ amid fresh reports linking Eden Hazard with Real Madrid.
The Belgian forward was linked with a “dream move” to Los Blancos throughout last summer and, with Zinedine Zidane returning to the club as manager for a second time, questions are once again being asked.
Is Hazard set for a Madrid move? Five key things to know…
- Hazard has scored 105 in 338 games for Chelsea since joining the club in 2012.
- The former Lille man has helped the Blues to two Premier League titles during that time.
- However, the 28-year-old has regularly been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
- While at the 2018 World Cup, the Belgian admitted that would be a ‘dream move’ for him.
- And Chelsea boss, Sarri, has insisted he only wants players who are committed to the club.
However, Sarri has responded by saying he hasn’t spoken to Hazard about his future but only wants players who wish to be at the club.
“You have to ask Hazard, I think, I did not speak to Eden about Zidane,” Sarri told reporters.
“I am not worried. You know very well my opinion – I only want players that want to play for Chelsea.”
Hazard has been directly involved in 27 goals for Chelsea in all competitions this season so far, scoring 16 and assisting 11.
The Blues take on Dynamo Kyiv in the second leg of their Europa League round-of-16 tie on Thursday.

Hazard fully focused on Chelsea, according to Willian
Despite the intense speculation regarding his future at Stamford Bridge, Hazard’s teammate Willian has insisted the Belgian remains focused on doing his best for Chelsea and that he hasn’t mentioned anything about plans to move to Real Madrid.
The Brazilian said: “No doubt, he’s focussed here.
“He’s never said something about Real Madrid or stuff like this. He just wants to continue to play for Chelsea.”
Willian then went on to admit his hope that Hazard remains in London.
“First of all, I hope he stays with us. But in football you never know what can happen,” he added.
“Of course, Eden is a fantastic player, one of the best players in the world. He’s my friend, one of the best players I’ve played with in my whole career.
“I just have to say I hope he stays with us. That’s it.”
