“The team helped me get to my best. I give everything for them. They help me score goals and get assists. We are enjoying playing together.

“We are Man Utd. We play to win trophies. He [Solskjaer] took this job because he can do it. He trusts us and we trust him.”

After the game United drew Wolves in the FA Cup quarterfinals, while Swansea City drew Premier League leaders Manchester City, Watford will host Crystal Palace and Millwall will entertain Brighton at the Den.

When interviewed after the draw Solskjaer had immediately come to terms with facing another challenge on the road after tough ties against Arsenal and Chelsea away from home.

“An away tie again after Arsenal and Chelsea but that’s it. We’ll have to do it the hard way, Wolves are a tough team to play against,” Solskjaer told the BBC.

“The performance tonight was fantastic, our tactics worked. We asked our midfielders to press higher and get into the box and it worked. The defending in the second half was fantastic.”
