Man City or Liverpool? Pele predicts the Premier League title race

Football legend Pele has had his say on who he believes will win the Premier League title this season.

The Brazilian superstar has revealed that his money is on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to end their 29 years of hurt and get their hands on England’s greatest trophy.

Liverpool or City? Five things you need to know…

  1. Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League after their 1-0 victory away to AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.
  2. Liverpool – who have been top for the majority of the campaign – dropped down to second following their 0-0 draw against Everton.
  3. There are nine games left to play and City are one point (71) ahead of Liverpool (70).
  4. City (76) have scored 12 more goals than Liverpool (64) but Klopp’s men have conceded five less (15) than Pep Guardiola’s side (20).
  5. They have already played each other; they drew 0-0 at Anfield and City inflicted Liverpool’s only defeat of the season at the Etihad, winning 2-1.

Today marks the birthday of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish who is 68 years old. Offering kinds words towards to former Scottish international, Pele wished Dalglish happy birthday via his official Twitter account.

However, the Brazilian also offered his best wishes to Liverpool, telling the world that despite being a point behind Manchester City in the Premier League table, he still backs them to go all the way and become England’s best side.

Pele wrote: “Happy birthday to Liverpool hero, Kenny Dalglish.

“I backed @LFC  to win the Premier League from the start. I still think they will do it.”

Can Liverpool actually do it?

The Reds dropped a place in the Premier League following their tough draw away to Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Although disappointing to do so, it is hardly the end of the run for Liverpool who now have nine ‘cup finals’ to compete in before the close of the season.

Their next three matches present a real opportunity to showcase themselves as potential champions as the title race seemingly looks as though it is going to the wire.

They face Burnley and Fulham which should be won if Liverpool want to keep up with City, before they host Tottenham Hotspur at home at the end of the month.

If they win all three, they will put themselves into a great position heading into the closing weeks of the Premier League.
