Burnley manager Sean Dyche has branded Daniel Sturridge a cheat after Liverpool striker went down under a Phil Bardsley challenge in the first half of club’s 3-1 defeat.
The Clarets played host to Jurgen Klopp’s men in a fiery encounter at Turf Moor on Wednesday night, with Liverpool’s win somewhat overshadowed by a number of volatile incidents during the 90 minutes.
Klopp was up in arms with just 23 minutes on the clock after a heavy Ben Men challenge resulted in Joe Gomez being forced off through injury, the club have since confirmed the England international has sustained a “fracture to the low left leg”.
Meanwhile, Dyche was vexed by a supposed dive from Sturridge in the opening 45, accusing the striker of conning the referee into giving Liverpool a free-kick.
“He never even got touched, nothing near him and he went down and actually got a free-kick for it,” Dyche said (via Liverpool Echo).
“I watched Liverpool as a kid, I was a Liverpool fan growing up, and they had a fantastic side of skill, will, demand and a physical edge.
“Now if that’s gone or you’re saying our lads are not allowed to make those tackles that they did last night and it’s been replaced by cheating then I am absolutely happy to be old fashioned.
“There is no way I would not want to see good, proper professionals, challenging in that manner like ours did last night. No way.”

“Ben Mee’s was a fantastic tackle”
At the blow of the final whistle the obligatory managerial handshake was also marred by controversy as Dyche and Klopp became embroiled in a heated exchange.
The Burnley boss appeared incensed at Klopp for supposedly pestering the fourth official Mike Dean for large parts of the match as well as referee Stuart Atwell.
After the match, Klopp bemoaned Burnley’s robust style of play, believing the referee should have given his players more protection: “I really think the referee should have said something earlier.”
Meanwhile, Dyche was in full praise of his player’s approach to the game, believing they showed grit and determination, while further insisting that he thought Mee’s challenge on Gomez “was a fantastic tackle”.
“There were some excellent tackles,” he added. “The only one that was questionable was Bardo’s (Phil Bardsley on Alberto Moreno).
“Ben Mee’s was a fantastic tackle and I think Gomez realised that. We send him our best if there is any injury but it wasn’t from a bad tackle.
“Of course football managers can question whatever they like but I don’t think they can reinvent the rules. I don’t think there’s many fans in this country that want to see tackling go out of the game.”

Understandably the big loss of Gomez for the foreseeable future has upset the majority of Liverpool fans who have enjoyed his excellent performances across the season so far.
Most Liverpool fans believed that Dyche’s comments about his side’s tackles were simply wrong and that Burnley were far too rough with the Reds on Wednesday.

Yes,it would be fantastic tackle if he won ball cleanly but didn't also clatter into the player at such angle/force that results in a leg fracture.Tackling with even the chance that fracture could happen is out of order. Burnley players had obviously been told to ''ruff 'em up''.

@Burnley #SeanDyche's comment that his team over the top tackling is "good, proper professionals, challenging in that manner like ours did" is irresponsibled. This is hooligan style football that cld seriously hurt another player ( e.g. Joe Gomez?).
