Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has no intention of leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.
The 23-year-old has clocked up just 281 minutes of La Liga football this season, coming across four appearances, with reports linking him to the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Napoli, as well as a loan move to Alaves.
Was Marcos Llorente close to leaving Real Madrid? Five key things to know…
- Marcos Llorente made his professional debut for Real Madrid Castilla in 2014.
- The Spaniard now has now made 130 club appearances.
- Has only featured in four La Liga games this season and both the player and agent previously said they were considering a loan move away.
- His form has picked up of late as he replaced the absent Casemiro, and Llorente has 94.5% passing accuracy in La Liga so far.
- The 23-year-old, who was named Man of the Match in the recent Club World Cup final win, now says he has no intention of leaving Real.
Julio Llorente, the player’s uncle and agent, recently told the Spanish press that Champions League clubs were interested in signing his nephew and that, a month-and-a-half ago, it looked certain he would depart the Bernabeu.
However, the recent absence of Casemiro has granted Llorente more appearances of late, and he has insisted that he his happy at the club and has no plans to leave.
“I’m sure I will stay, I’m really happy and I have no intention of leaving,” Llorente told reporters.
“It’s true that in life, like football, the situation can change from night to morning and you cannot lower your aims, you have to take advantage of your opportunities.”
Llorente has become something of a ‘pass master’ during his brief La Liga appearances this season, with no player in the division who has played more than 90 minutes matching his impressive 94.5% pass accuracy.

Llorente man of the match as Real are crowned world champions
Llorente also scored a fantastic volley – his first goal for Real’s senior side – in Real Madrid’s recent FIFA Club World Cup final win over Al Ain, helping him scoop the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
The Spain U21 international says he is ‘happy’ to receive the award but hopes it is just the start of his and Real’s success this season.
He said: “Man of the Match in the Club World Cup final? I’m happy to receive it, of course, to score the goal and win the final – now it is time to enjoy the moment.
“We are trying to win all the titles, this was an important one as we were going for three consecutive titles and we have achieved it.
“Now we have three more competitions this season that we will look to win.”
Los Blancos travel to Villarreal on January 3 in their next game.
