Jamie Carragher hailed Paul Pogba as ‘outstanding’ during Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
Pogba bagged two goals and an assist as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer maintained his 100% record as Manchester United caretaker manager.
How good was Pogba against Bournemouth? Five key things to know…
- Pogba scored two goals and provided an assist as Man United demolished Bournemouth 4-1 on Sunday.
- The Frenchman also created more chances (three) than any other player during the game.
- Pogba’s performance had pundits purring, with Jamie Redknapp even comparing him to basketball star LeBron James.
- Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher called Pogba’s performance against the Cherries ‘outstanding’.
- Carragher give his Man of the Match award to the No.6, who also won 100% of his tackles on Sunday.
The Frenchman’s performance drew a Man of the Match award from Carragher, who was commentating on the game for Sky Sports, with the former Liverpool defender calling Pogba ‘outstanding’.
Carragher said: “He’s been absolutely outstanding.
“He’s played a more advanced role under Solskjaer, which felt almost like the number 10 position to the left side.
“He’s been first in everything and first of the 22 players on the pitch, no doubt about it.”
Pogba was well deserving of his Man of the Match award, with the former Juventus man completing more passes in the opposition half (52), creating more chances (three), getting more shots on target (four) and scoring more goals (two) than any other player on the pitch on Sunday.
Man United’s win takes the Red Devils to within just three points of fifth-placed Arsenal, with a trip to Newcastle United up next.
Pogba’s rejuvenation under Solskjaer
After enduring a torrid start to the 2018/19 season under Jose Mourinho, Paul Pogba now looks like a player reborn under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
In the three games the Norwegian has overseen, Pogba has scored four goals and assisted another three, meaning he has been directly involved in more goals than any other Premier League player during that period.
Pogba’s double on Sunday also means he has already set a personal best for goals scored (seven) within a single Premier League campaign, with four of those coming in the last two games.
