The Instagram post that could spell bad news for Willian's Chelsea career

Former USA and Fulham striker Eddie Johnson appears to think Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea move is done and dusted.

Reports from Germany claim Chelsea are close to completing the £45m signing of Pulisic, who has struggled for game time at Borussia Dortmund this season; the emergence of Jadon Sancho has restricted the 20-year-old to just five Bundesliga starts.

How would Pulisic fit in at Chelsea? Five key things to know…

  1. Chelsea already have Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro at their disposal in wide areas.
  2. However, Willian is far from a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, with many fans calling for him to be sold.
  3. Pedro is currently out injured, while Hazard’s future at the club is anything but certain.
  4. Pulisic has scored 15 goals and provided 24 assists during his 115 appearances for Dortmund.
  5. The 20-year-old would provide great pace on the wings for Sarri and has expressed a desire to play in England.

The forward has managed two assists and a goal during that time, though, and remains one of the most sought-after talents in European football right now.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been reported destinations for Pulisic at one time or another.

But in a story shared on his Instagram account, Johnson posted a picture of Pulisic with his shirt split in half, with one side Dortmund and the other Chelsea.

Johnson, who earned 63 caps for the USA men’s national team in his career, captioned the post: “So stoked for you lil’ bro, great move. Can’t wait to watch you alongside Eden Hazard.”

Pulisic yearns for Premier League move

Adding to the growing speculation, Pulisic, who once appeared for Brackley Town in his youth, has previously stated his desire to play in the Premier League one day.

“England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here,” he said.

“As you can see, we are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that.

“Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, then that’s when those things happen. Like I said before, reading these articles [about me], I tend to stay away from that stuff.

“I know it is going to be there but it is not my priority.”
