One random ex-Barcelona star revealed his love for Liverpool during the Arsenal thrashing

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol says he loves “rock and roll” Liverpool after the Reds extended their unbeaten run to 20 games on Saturday.

The Reds are enjoying their best start to a Premier League campaign and are plotting a course to win the competition this season – the first time they’ve won England’s top tier since 1990.

Some thought the Reds could suffer a major set back on Saturday evening as the Gunners have resurged after a slow start to Unai Emery’s maiden campaign in the Premier League.

And when Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles right-footed close range finish opened the scoring, there were a few worried faces around Anfield.

Those frowns were quickly turned upside down as the game wore on with Liverpool’s deadly attacking trio finding fifth gear. A brilliant hat-trick from Roberto Firmino and single efforts from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane proved to be more than enough to sink Arsenal 5-1 on Merseyside. The Reds extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points (Man City still to play on Sunday).

One person who is particularly impressed by the Reds’ barnstorming campaign is Barcelona legend Carles Puyol, who knows quite a bit about exciting football. The former Barca centre-back sent out a couple of Tweets expressing his excitement about the Reds’ “rock and roll” football this season.

The last Premier League club to win the title without suffering a defeat was Arsenal’s “Invincibles” side during the 2003/04 season. Klopp’s men still have 18 games to play to match that record, but they show no signs of slowing down at the moment.

Liverpool’s unbeaten run will be tested to its limits, in one of the most anticipated Premier League matches of the last decade, when they face Manchester City at the Etihad on January 3.
