The agent of Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic has refused to rule out the possibility of his client joining Juventus in the future.
Savic endured a difficult season at Manchester City in 2011/12 before moving to Fiorentina and eventually joining Atletico Madrid, where he has excelled.
How Savic almost cost Man City the 2011/12 title: Five key things to know…
- Savic joined City from Partizan as a 20-year-old, having impressed in the Serbian top-flight.
- The Montenegro international was thrown into the first-team in January 2012 to cover for Vincent Kompany.
- Deputising for City’s captain proved difficult for Savic, who made a number of mistakes and was condemned as a flop by the club’s supporters.
- Then-City boss Roberto Mancini came out in defence of the centre-back, saying: “Stefan is a young player and when you are young, you can be in trouble for nothing.”
- Savic won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup with Atletico last year and has made 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
Savic could come up against Juventus when Atletico host the Serie A Champions in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night.
And the 28-year-old’s agent, Zarko Pelicic, has opened the door for Savic to join Juventus one day.
“Juve? His contract with Atletico expires in 2022,” Pelicic said, according to Football Espana. “He’s happy in Madrid. We’ll see, however, what happens in the future. That’s all I can say right now.
“The rumours about Savic don’t surprise me because they’ve always existed.”

Should Man City have given Savic more time?
Savic only lasted one season in England, making 20 appearances across all competitions before leaving for Fiorentina on deadline day of the 2012 summer transfer window.
He has developed into a reliable centre-back for one of the best defences in Europe, although it’s worth noting he isn’t a guaranteed starter for Atletico.
There is an argument to be made that City should have given Savic more time to prove himself in the Premier League.
However, he would struggle to get into the current City side, facing competition from Kompany, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Nicolas Otamendi.
