Sergio Aguero has revealed how a jibe from his brother led him to dye his hair peroxide blond before the Manchester derby.
The Argentinian got on the scoresheet as Manchester City ran out 3-1 winners against rivals Manchester United.
Why did Aguero dye his hair? Five key things to know…
- Aguero surprised everyone by donning a new peroxide blond look for the recent Manchester Derby.
- But it did not change anything to his game, with the Argentine scoring City’s second in their 3-1 win.
- And now, Aguero has admitted he made the decision to dye his hair after his brother pleaded with him not to.
- The forward insists his son is a fan and compares his new do to that of Fabrizio Ravanelli.
- Aguero has now scored 11 goals in 15 games across all competitions this season.
On the topic of his hair, Aguero said a taunt by his brother accelerated his decision.
“[My brother] challenged me, ‘don’t you dare do it before the game against United’, and I did it. My son likes it and is happy,” Aguero told Sky Sports, via Goal.
“I’m better than [Fabrizio] Ravanelli! More beautiful, no? I like it.”
The Argentinian, who has averaged a goal every 111 minutes this season in the league, is only second behind Anthony Martial (106) for minutes to goal.
“I had some discomfort, and then at the end of last season I decided to go for surgery before the World Cup,” he said.
“Since then, I feel great, I don’t feel pain at all, and that’s probably why I’m enjoying it more and feeling fitter.”
Aguero (and his hair) is on fire
The time when Aguero’s days had looked to be numbered under Pep Guardiola seem so, so far away now.
Under Guardiola, the Argentinian has hit 74 goals in 99 games in all competitions – that’s some record. Harry Kane has 86 goals in 104 games in that time.
However Aguero currently has eight goals in the league, making him the leading marksman in the division, with Eden Hazard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang behind him with seven.
It remains to be seen whether Aguero will be able to keep his goalscoring going as City take on West Ham United this weekend.
