14-year-old Shola Shoretire has made Manchester United history by becoming the club’s youngest ever player to appear in an official youth league/cup game.
Shoretire came off the bench in Man United U19’s 2-1 Uefa Youth League win over Valencia on Wednesday, also making him the youngest player to feature in the competition to date at the age of 14 years and 314 days.

The class of 2018?
We all know about the famed ‘class of 92’ group of youngsters that went on to achieve untold success at Manchester United.
It would appear the Red Devils have once again begun to embrace youth, with Shoretire’s place in the U19 squad being opened up by Jose Mourinho calling up starlets Mason Greenwood and James Garner to the senior squad for their Champions League game against Valencia on Wednesday.
It remains to be seen whether or not the pair will make their debuts or be included in the matchday squad at all, but Mourinho clearly rates them highly, having already taken the pair on Man United’s tour of the United States in the summer.
Back then, he said of the travelling pair: “Our good players are young, they are 16, 17, 18, they have to play in their league, training with us, like they had a wonderful experience.
“Jimmy Garner is 17, he can go home and say I play against Isco, against Toni Kroos, against [Marco] Asensio, he can go home and say that. It’s capital of experience, fantastic for the kids.
“The story of this club was always made with good players coming through from the youth team we managed to do that last year, Mr Van Gaal with Marcus Rashford. We managed to do that, myself with Scott McTominay and we are going to make it again when these kids are older.”
The Red Devils face Valencia on Wednesday having already sealed Champions League group stage qualification.
