Former Premier League star Yakubu believes Everton’s Richarlison can be one of the top scorers in the division.
The ex-Everton striker, who also played for Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, thinks the club’s Brazilian star can improve to become one of the Premier League’s top scorers.
Can Richarlison lead Everton to glory? Five things you should know…
- Richarlison started his career at Brazilian side America Mineiro.
- His form at Fluminense earned him a move to the Premier League.
- Richarlison signed for Watford in August 2017 for £11.2m.
- During his time at Watford the Brazilian scored five times in 38 Premier League games, all coming under Marco Silva.
- Everton signed Richarlison for an initial £35m this summer and has scored eight in his first 14 games for the Toffees.
Everton are on a run of four games without a win in the Premier League yet Richarlison has still managed to bag two goals during that time and has already improved on his five league goals last season by netting eight for Everton this campaign.
Former Everton striker Yakubu, who scored 25 times in the top flight for the Toffees, believes Richarlison can still improve to be one of the top scorers in the Premier League this season.
“Richarlison is smart and clever,” the former Blues frontman told the Everton website. “I have watched him since he was at Watford. If he continues to do what he is doing, you will see the improvement.
“He is going to be a top striker. I think he can be right up there in the goalscoring charts.”
Is Richarlison the most difficult forward to deal with?
Everton brought in Richarlison to build the team around and he has proved that he can be the side’s top player.
Defenders fear him and often only stop him by bringing him down. Since the start of last season he has been fouled more times (136) than any other player in the Premier League. 95 of those fouls were committed last season when he was with Watford and still adapting to life in the top flight.

He has also won 154 aerial duals showing his prowess against some of the most powerful defenders in world football yet for a big man he is also excellent with the ball at his feet.
Since the start of last season he has attempted 162 dribbles and created 36 chances for his team-mates.
If Everton can recruit some support for him in January then Yakubu’s prediction may well come true.
