Mourinho hails Liverpool’s “incredible” 200mph player who left him breathless

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is amazed by Liverpool’s pace after his side’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield.

Liverpool extended their unbeaten run to 17 games in the Premier League with a convincing 3-1 victory over their long-time rivals at Anfield.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Reds when Ashley Young lost sight of his run into the box, the 26-year-old controlled the ball expertly with his chest before volleying past a hopeless De Gea.

United got back into the game against the run of play with a goal from Jesse Lingard, but Liverpool finished off Mourinho’s men in the second half via a brace from Xherdan Shaqiri.

Liverpool dominated from start to finish, not allowing United to get comfortable on the ball and attacked the Red Devils with an intensity that evened Mourinho purring after the game.

“LFC play 200mph with and without the ball. I am still tired to look at Robertson. He makes a 100m sprint per minute! Incredible.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side completely dominated Man Utd in this game, enjoying 64% of the possession, as they carved through their opponents like a particularly soft brand of butter.

Liverpool managed an astonishing 36 shots on United’s goals as they breezed past their midfield and had their floundering defenders in knots for much of the game.

Whenever United lost the ball, the Reds were there to gather it and were soon menacing United’s box at the other end of the pitch.
