Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes LA Galaxy decision amid AC Milan links

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced he will stay at LA Galaxy for another season despite being linked with a return to his former club, AC Milan.

The 37-year-old enjoyed a successful first season in the U.S. and has chosen to stay in America rather than return to Italy.

How did Ibrahimovic become an MLS star? Five key things to know:

1. After scoring 28 goals in his first season at Manchester United, Ibrahimovic’s contract was extended by a year.
2. The striker struggled in his second year at United and joined LA Galaxy in March after his contract with the Red Devils was mutually terminated.
3. Ibrahimovic settled quickly in the U.S., scoring 22 goals in 27 appearances in his first MLS campaign.
4. LA Galaxy missed out on the play-offs and Ibrahimovic was subsequently linked with a return to AC Milan.
5. But the Swede has signed an improved contract for the 2019 MLS season, according to BBC Sport.

On Monday, Ibrahimovic posted a video on Twitter containing TV and newspaper reports tipping him to return to either AC Milan or Manchester United.

The camera zooms out to reveal Ibrahimovic standing in the LA Galaxy dressing room, with the caption: “I’m not done with you yet.”

LA Galaxy also posted the video on their official website, although they are yet to confirm the BBC Sport report that claims he has signed a one-year extension.

Ibrahimovic has never spent more than four seasons at one club.

Will 2019 be Ibrahimovic’s final year in football?

Ibrahimovic turned 37 in October, which is why some rumours have tipped him to have one last hurrah in Serie A.

However, the veteran striker has decided to stay in America where he is likely to play out the final year of his career.

In total, Ibrahimovic has scored 443 goals in 757 appearances in his club career, playing for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy.

He is also his country’s all-time leading goalscorer with 62 goals in 116 appearances for Sweden.
