Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Aaron Ramsey will be a big loss for the club when he leaves in the summer.
The Welshman has signed a pre-contract with Serie A giants Juventus and will move to Italy at the end of the current season.
Will Arsenal miss Ramsey? Five things you need to know…
- Aaron Ramsey signed for Arsenal in 2008 from Cardiff City, for a transfer fee of £4.8 million.
- The Welshman has made 361 appearances for the Gunners across his 11 years at the club, scoring 62 goals.
- The 28-year-old has won three FA Cups and two Community Shields in Arsenal colours.
- With less than six months until his contract expires, Ramsey agreed upon a bumper four-year-deal with Juventus which will start this summer.
- And Wenger, who brought Ramsey to Arsenal, believes the Welshman will be a big loss.
Wenger – who brought Ramsey to the club 11 years previous – has spoken about the Welshman’s decision to switch north London for the Serie A champions.
The Frenchman believes Juventus have bagged themselves a real asset as they continue their dominance in Italian football. In contrast, Wenger admits that Arsenal may regret allowing Ramsey to leave.
Citing Ramsey’s ability to keep possession in the final third and his well-timed runs from midfield, Wenger said: “It will be a loss for Arsenal.
“I must say it will be an interesting move for Ramsey.
“He is a player who is great going forward. His main quality is he can keep the final ball and he makes interesting runs from deep.
“You don’t find many players today who can make midfield runs off the ball. It will be an interesting addition for Juventus.”

Ramsey’s career with Arsenal coming to an end
The 28-year-old joined as a mere schoolboy when Wenger decided to take a chance on the Cardiff City player.
A few sporadic loan spells later and Ramsey was thrust into the side. Excluding this season, Ramsey hasn’t played fewer than 23 Premier League games in a season since 2011.
In that time, he has developed into a player who can produce a moment of magic, be it a defence-splitting pass, a darting run or a clever finish.
With reported wages reaching as high as £400,000 per week at Juventus, it is understandable why Arsenal were not in a position to keep hold of the talented midfielder.
However, it does scream of poor business, allowing his contract to run down without taking a hefty transfer fee for his services.
And what with Mesut Ozil still occupying a place on Arsenal bench while taking home a substantial salary, would Arsenal fans prefer Ramsey over the German?
Well, it’s too late now…
