Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has described criticism of his ‘Sarri-ball’ system as a ‘false problem’.
The Blues have lost three of their last six Premier League games, including 4-0 and 6-0 maulings at the hands of Bournemouth and Manchester City respectively.

- The Blues are just 2-1 up after the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie against Malmo, with the second leg coming on Thursday.
- Sarri’s side face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, having lost 6-0 to Guardiola’s men earlier this month.
- Their next Premier League fixture is at home to title-chasing Tottenham, with Chelsea now battling for a top-four finish.
This loss of form has led to uncertainty surrounding the Italian’s future at the club, as well as widespread criticism regarding the rigidness of his playing system – something Sarri has discarded as a ‘false problem’.
“The system is a false problem,” Sarri said on Wednesday. “I know very well that when we lose I have to put a striker on the pitch. When we win I have to put a defender on the pitch.
“But I want to see football in another way.”
The 60-year then insisted a run of wins is the only way to turn Chelsea’s predicament around.
“We need to win three, four matches in a row. It’s the only solution,” added Sarri.
“I can understand very well the frustration of our fans because they are used to winning. Now we are in trouble, so I can understand very well.
“There isn’t another way. We can only have good performances and results.”

Pedro: Chelsea ‘in trouble’ if we don’t bounce back
Echoing the views of his manager, Spanish winger Pedro concurred that Chelsea must ‘recover their best feeling’ if they are to get their season back on track.
The Blues still have the Carabao Cup, Europa League and a top-four finish in the Premier League well within their grasp, and the former Barcelona man has urged his teammates to ‘stay calm’ during this testing period.
“There is an important game in the Europa League for us, and after the final against City,” Pedro told the club’s official website.
“The most important thing now is to stay calm, train really hard and recover our best football and our best feeling, because if not we are in trouble.”
