Chelsea star Eden Hazard has finally got the manager he needs to excel, according to Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
Hazard has been on fire for the Blue this season, in which he has seven Premier League goals and six assists, ever since Maurizio Sarri took over from Antonio Conte in the summer.
The Belgium international’s form has been a major reason behind Chelsea’s impressive start to the season, in which they remained unbeaten for the opening 12 Premier League games before losing to both Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers
City legend Kompany has seemingly taken a swipe at several former Chelsea coaches including Conte and current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in suggesting that Hazard is finally being coached by a manager prepared to get the best out of his attacking qualities.
“I think he was due an offensive manager,” Kompany told the Guardian.
“I can’t remember him having that a lot in his career. Eventually, a manager like this is what he needed, no matter where he was, to get the best out of him. The future is bright for him.”
“Chelsea are one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League”
Kompany seemed to have nothing but praise for the Blues who come up against Pep Guardiola’s City side this weekend.
“Chelsea are one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League,” Kompany said.
“Look at the way they try to build up, the way they try to play through the middle. The talent they have up front to create chances, you can only say they are the real deal. And that is what makes this game exciting I think. It will be a good game.”
Sarri’s side are a massive 10 points behind City despite only losing twice so far in this Premier League campaign. For all of Sarri’s excellent progress in turning Chelsea into a more effective attacking outfit, they have still scored 14 goals fewer than the reigning league champions.
You would think if Chelsea fail to win this match, their title chances are over before Christmas is out.
