Pep Guardiola hails natural-born goalscorer Sergio Aguero after Arsenal hat-trick

Pep Guardiola has the goalscoring talent of Sergio Aguero following Man City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Aguero bagged an impressive hat-trick to sink the Gunners at the Etihad, firing his side back into second place the Premier League.

Is Aguero the best striker in the Premier League? Here’s what you need to know…

  1. Aguero scored a hat-trick as City ran out 3-1 winners against Arsenal on Sunday.
  2. The Argentine is now on 14 league goals this season, one behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and two behind Mohamed Salah.
  3. Aguero is also the first player to be directly involved in 20 Premier League goals for City this season, scoring 14 and assisting six.
  4. Guardiola thinks his striker was ‘born’ with his goalscoring talent.

And Guardiola was quick to praise his Argentine marksman, who he feels is a natural-born goalscorer, telling Sky Sports after the game: “He was born with that talent, he will die with that talent.”

The only blemish on Aguero’s hat-trick was the fact that his third goal was directed in with his arm, an offence which eluded, Martin Atkinson, at the time.

And Aguero himself has admitted he thought it came off his chest at first, telling Sky Sports: “I honestly think it was in the chest but now I saw on the TV, it was a handball.”

Sunday’s goals move Aguero to within two goals of Mohamed Salah’s 16 goals at the top of the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

Man City take on Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Guardiola: we can still catch Liverpool

Man City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal moved them back to within two points of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, although the Reds can extend that lead on Monday when they travel to West Ham.

But despite still trailing Liverpool in the table, Guardiola is still confident of catching Jurgen Klopp’s side, telling Sky Sports: “After the Newcastle defeat everyone thought we would go seven points behind. A lot of things will happen between now and the end of the season.

“We scored first and kept trying for more, that’s the biggest lesson we can learn.”
