Marcelo Bielsa has made history at Leeds United already

Marcelo Bielsa has made history by becoming the first Leeds United manager to win his first four games in charge at the club.

Goals from Luke Ayling and Kemar Roofe sealed victory for the Peacocks, their fourth in as many games this season.

Prior to Saturday’s kick off, Bielsa was cautious about appearing overconfident, insisting that although his side never think they are inferior to anyone else, his opponents shouldn’t feel inferior to him.

“If you think that we are favourites, you’re supposing that we should feel superior to our opponent or that our opponent should feel inferior to us,” he said (via the Mirror).

“These things are never decided before the game. It’s better to demonstrate it than to say it. But regarding our team, before playing we never think we are inferior to any other team.”

Discussing how each opponent dictates how his side will play, Bielsa also touched on Rotherham’s direct style and assured Leeds would continue to implement his philosophy regardless – which they did.

Their style is different,” he added. “It’s not the same as the first two opponents.

“They play long balls to the strikers and they don’t play with the ball on the ground. This is the main difference, but it doesn’t mean it’s going to be like that.

“We will take into account the style of the opponent, but we will play as we have done so far.”

Despite the fact that Bielsa has collected no major trophies to speak of during his career in management, there’s was a lot of hype surrounding the arrival of the former Chile manager at Elland Road, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola broadly cited as being a great admirer and student of the Argentine coach.

So far, Bielsa is living up to his expectations having guided Leeds to three consecutive victories in the Championship and four victories overall.

Leeds’ next game is against recently-relegated Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday.
