Marcus Rashford didn’t consider playing for any club other than Manchester United despite interest from other big clubs.
Rashford burst onto the scene during the 2015-16 season under Louis van Gaal, scoring a brace on his debut in a 5-1 win against Watford.
“No. Liverpool was never an option,” Rashford told Sky Sports. “Liverpool, City, Everton – there was no other club I really would have enjoyed going to other than United. It just felt natural thing to do.
“I was playing for my old Sunday League team, Fletcher Moss, we won a tournament and there were loads of different scouts there.
“For a lot of us, United was the one. Everyone grew up a United fan and United and Fletcher Moss always had a good relationship, players in the past had made that switch, so United was natural.”
Even though United are highly unlikely to win the Premier League this season and will probably struggle to break the top four Rashford still sees this as a big game.
“You never have to be told it – you just feel it,” he added. “Each club holds different values and it’s just a clash of everything – football, fans… it’s more than just a normal game.”
Liverpool are mounting a clear challenge to Man City’s supremacy in the Premier League and victory against United would return them to the top of the table, but their clash at Anfield won’t be easy, having only defeated United once in their last ten meeting across all competitions.

The 21-year-old England international has been United’s only saving grace in recent weeks, as the Red Devils’ other high-profile players have left Mourinho and United fans feeling unsatisfied.
Rashford scored in United’s 4-1 thrashing against Fulham last weekend and netted United’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Valencia on Wednesday night.
The youngster’s performances have not been lost on his manager who was full of praise for the forward. “I’m always pleased because he always plays on his limits,” the United manager told manutd.com.
“He gives absolutely everything and that’s what I demand from players.
“After that, more quality, less quality, better performance, not as good, but I think that’s the basic thing of a professional and, at that level, Marcus is untouchable because he’s fantastic in terms of his contribution for the team.”
Rashford notched a brace against Liverpool last season when the two side met at Old Trafford but was unable to make a similar impact in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat.
