Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has professed his love for PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano amid speculation linking the player with the Serie A giants.
The 23-year-old Mexican forward has recently seen his name linked with I Partenopei, though the expectation is he will not leave the Dutch champions this month.
Who is Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano? Five things to know…
- Age: 23
- Position(s): winger/forward
- Senior career path: Pachuca (2014 – 2017) > PSV (2017 – present)
- Senior goals/apps: 78/2010
- Key stat: Lozano scored more Eredivisie goals than any PSV player last season (17).
Since joining PSV from boyhood club CF Pachuca in the summer of 2017, the Mexico international has become a pivotal fixture under then manager Phillip Cocu and his successor Mark van Bommel.
Lozano ended his debut campaign as the club’s leading scorer, in the process helping them claim a 24th national championship, which ultimately saw his name become associated with a number of clubs in gossip columns across Europe.
The pursuit for Lozano only intensified during last summer’s World Cup finals in Russia, where his goal downed former world champions Germany. The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested, and the player’s father says Barcelona have made an approach.

Napoli have since entered the fray with their manager Ancelotti, whilst discussing transfer targets and his current squad, admitting he’s taken a shine.
“We negotiated for Lobotka last summer when we risked missing out on Fabian Ruiz due to his clause. Barella is a good player, while I absolutely love Lozano,” he told Corriere dello Sport.
“But for now I am happy to keep my excellent squad. This group has not yet given 100 per cent of what it can do.
“Fabian Ruiz hasn’t shown 100 per cent, neither have Arkadiusz Milik or Piotr Zielinski. Lorenzo Insigne gave even more than 100 per cent up until November, than had a dip in form.”
A winger by trade Lozano, to date, has played in no fewer than 61 matches for PSV in all competitions registering 34 goals and creating a further 20 for his teammates.
He is expected to add to that appearances column after his representative, the super agent Mino Raiola, assured PSV he will finish the season in Eindhoven.
