Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request, the club’s director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed.
The Croatian has been linked with a loan move to Arsenal this window, the Inter manager Luciano Spalletti admitting he would be willing to listen to the right offer.
Will Perisic sign for Arsenal? Five key things to know…
- Ivan Perisic has been linked with a move away from Inter Milan after a poor start to the season.
- The Croatian has been strongly linked with Premier League side Arsenal, who have reportedly made an approach for Perisic.
- Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has revealed he would be open to letting Perisic leave for the right price.
- And now, club director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed Perisic has handed in a trasnfer request to push a move through.
- Perisic has scored just three goals and recorded five assists in 25 games so far this season.
Amid the rumours, Perisic was left out of Inter Milan’s starting XI to face Torino on Sunday afternoon, though the Croatian was named among the substitutes.
And, Inter’s director Marotta has since confirmed Perisic handed in a transfer request though no suitable offers have been made.
“We have to live with a situation that many clubs have in this period, which is players who express their desire for a transfer,” he told reporters.
“We listened to the player, he has this desire. We want to make him happy, but also have to consider what is best for us. So far, no suitable offers have arrived, so we will wait.
“When a player is fair and tells us his mental state and what he wants, we will always listen. After that, it’s an issue of looking after the club’s financial interests.”
Inter willing to listen to Perisic offers but only at the right price
Marotta’s revelation comes after Inter boss Spalletti admitted he would be willing to listen to offers for Perisic, as long as they were for the right price.
“It is normal that during the market we are talking about a player like Perisic, because he is a strong player that everyone would want in their team,” he told reporters when asked about the Croatian’s future.
“However, the talk must become concrete and then supported by the correct figures.”
Arsenal’s reported offer would see them take Perisic on loan until the end of the current season with an option to buy for £35m – Inter’s valuation – in the summer.
But, according to reports, Inter are only willing to listen to permanent transfer offers requiring the £35m up front.
