Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Pallister has blasted Romelu Lukaku for his recent comments.
The Belgian striker joined the club from Everton at the start of last season and went on to score 27 goals during his maiden Old Trafford campaign.
However, the 25-year-old has struggled for form this season and has only managed four goals so far.
And, during the recent international break, Lukaku has made no secret of his desire to one day play in Serie A, with Juventus being his preferred destination. saying: “Why not? I hope it happens.”
Pallister, who won four Premier League titles during a golden spell with the Red Devils, is less than impressed with the 79-time Belgium international, feeling that he needs to show more respect to his current club.
He told 888Sport: “I think it’s disrespectful at times if you start mentioning other clubs when you’re actually contracted to the club you’re at. If it’s in your mind I’ve got no problem with that but to put it in print I’ve got a problem with that.
“At a time when a club is under real pressure to have their leading goal-scorer say he’d like to move abroad – if that’s what he has done – is not the ideal scenario.”

One player that has impressed Pallister, however, is left-back Luke Shaw, who has dug in and turned himself into one of Jose Mourinho’s most important players this season, despite the criticism he has faced from the Portuguese in the past.
Pallister added: “Luke Shaw has had his knockers about his fitness levels and how he looks after himself and taken a bit of stick off Jose along the way as well so a weaker man might have buckled and thought ‘I need to get away’.
“But he has taken it on the chin, worked hard and got himself a fitness coach during the close season. Now he is reaping the benefits from that.”
“He has been one of our most consistent players so far this season and that’s been rewarded with a new contract. Long may this continue because he was touted as being one of the best left-backs in the world three years ago.”
Manchester United have had a mixed start to the new season and currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, with the Red Devils facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next.
