Leeds United 1-1 Nottingham Forest: Every player rated

A controversial goal scored by Kemar Roofe secured a late point for Leeds United at home to Nottingham Forest this evening in their Championship clash, with the final score finishing 1-1.

A tight opening 10 minutes saw both sides show that they possess the qualities needed to finish in the higher regions of the table.

This quality came through for Forest who scored after 11 minutes when defender Jack Robinson headed past Leeds goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell to put the visitors ahead.

The score remained the same entering the second half with Leeds intent on turning the score around. Leeds pushed on and it seemed as if the game had gone away from them.

However, a cross was fired across the box which found Roofe on the line, who put the ball into the back of the net to draw the hosts level. Neither the referee or linesman saw that the ball had gone into the Forest goal off of Roofe’s arm.

The goal was enough to steal Leeds a point and disappoint Forest players and supporters alike, who were all eyeing up a superb win at Elland Road.

Here is how each player rated in Leeds United’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Leeds United

Bailey Peacock-Farrell – 6 – The Leeds shot-stopper was fingertips away from saving Robinson’s header in the first half. Fairly quiet night otherwise for the youngster.

Luke Ayling – 6 – The 27-year-old only lasted 25 minutes before limping off with a suspected knee injury.

Pontus Jansson – 6 – At the heart of the Leeds defence, Jansson had a real battle with Grabban as both men fought aerial to help their sides. Did relatively well.

Liam Cooper – 6 – Alongside Jansson, Leeds’ captain failed to inspire his side to produce a performance needed to beat a very organised Forest side.

Stuart Dallas – 5 – Allowed Robinson to escape his marking at the corner which resulted in Forest’s goal. Very much putting the team before his own preferences on the pitch but Dallas is far more effective in the final third than in his own box.

Kalvin Phillips – 5 – Didn’t do too much this evening in what was an ineffective performance from the 22-year-old. Subbed.

Pablo Hernández – 5 – Had a long range, deflected strike saved by Pantilimon but otherwise, his qualities were lacking this evening. Although he was always looking for that creative moment to capitalise on, he was ultimately unsuccessful.

Adam Forshaw – 6 – Had a decent shot from far out that went wide of the goal. Decent if uninspiring.

Mateusz Klich – 6 – The number 43 linked up well as Leeds passed sideways but as soon as they sought to go forward, he wasn’t as clinical. He did fire the ball across the box to Roofe who stole a late equaliser. An assist for Klich.

Ezgjan Alioski – 5 – A man not afraid to show his frustrations out on the pitch, Alioski couldn’t find a way through the Forest defence this evening which only went and increased his worries.

Kemar Roofe – 6 – Missed a few half chances in a match that didn’t display his best-attacking prowess until he was the man on the line to grab the late equaliser for Leeds, even if it was with his hand.

Substitutions

Tom Pearce – 6 – Brought on in the middle of the first half for the injured Ayling, Pearce was then subbed off later in the second half as Leeds went for the win.

Jack Clarke – 6 – Had a decent shot within a minute of coming on.

Samuel Saiz – 6 – Helped his side as they pushed on to find a winner.

Nottingham Forest

Costel Pantilimon – 6 – The Premier League turned Championship goalkeeper was rarely tested in truth, ushering and organising his defence throughout the 90 minutes. Was unlucky to concede with the help of Roofe’s arm.

Jack Robinson – 7 – 14 games for the club and now the full-back has his first goal for Aitor Karanka’s side. From a corner, Robinson got his head onto the ball and guided it into the bottom right corner of Leeds’ goal to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Tendayi Darikwa – 7 – The pacey full-back did extremely well to help limit Leeds to half chances and long range efforts and was quick to close down on the right-hand side of the pitch.

Tobias Figueiredo – 6 – As Leeds pushed on late into the match, Figueiredo gave a typical ‘away day’ performance that his manager will be very happy with.

Danny Fox – 6 – The Forest captain had a solid game until he went off injured early in the second half.

Adlène Guédioura – 8 – At this level, Guédioura is a real force to be reckoned with. Great passing, constant movement and exactly the type of player Forest need in the middle of the pitch.

Jack Colback – 7 – The former Newcastle and Sunderland man worked well with Guédioura to keep possession as much as possible in a congested centre-circle. A few moments where he charged forward, Colback produced a good shift this evening.

Matty Cash – 6 – Less cash more loose change this evening. Moments of effort were met with moments of wastefulness in what was not a match for the winger to remember. Subbed.

João Carvalho – 6 – The summer signing for Forest wasn’t as effective as his attacking compatriots but still put in a decent shift this evening.

Joe Lolley – 7 – A lively match for Lolley who provided the well-flighted corner for Robinson to put Forest ahead. A nasty studs-up challenge went unnoticed by the referee but otherwise a decent match for the playmaker. Subbed.

Lewis Grabban – 7 – The journeyman may not have scored but he pressured the Leeds defence with his presence and regularly chased down the ball to rush defenders into unplanned long-passes.

Substitutions

Michael Dawson – 6 – The former Premier League defender came on in the second half for the injured Fox. Visually frustrated with the officials for not disallowing the goal.

Ben Osborn – 6 – Didn’t have too much opportunity to affect the game.

Gil Dias – 6 – Booked.
