Paulo Dybala captained Juventus for the first time during a 2-1 win over Empoli on Saturday, but accidentally revealed the club’s free-kick pecking order after the match.
The Argentinian put on the captain’s armband for the first time in his Old Lady career after Giorgio Chiellini pulled out during the warm-up.
Juve’s vice-captain Andrea Barzagli was on the bench and third-in-command Sami Khedira remains out injured, which prompted Dybala to take on the lead role.
Having gone a goal down to Empoli, the club bounced back in the second-half courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo masterclass with the Portuguese netting a brace to give the Turin club a 2-1 victory, taking them seven points clear at the top of Serie A.
After the match, Dybala posted a celebratory message on his social media account, stating: “You never forget your first as captain,” but the picture accompanying his message appeared to reveal a number of details regarding Massimiliano Allegri’s set-piece tactics.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice a poster giving details about a number of instructions on dead-ball scenarios, presumably compiled by the Juve coaching staff in the club’s away dressing room.
The chart also appeared to document details in relation to the club’s pecking order of free-kick takers, listing certain responsibilities and assignments for certain set-piece scenarios; it also disclosed information on how set-pieces would be defended against.
The different scenarios were obviously written in Italian, but translated to ‘Wide low free-kick’ (Punizione Laterale Bassa), ‘Wide high free-kick’ (Punizione Laterale Alta) and ‘Central free-kick’ (Punizione Centrale).
With his set-piece tactics now out in the open, Allegri may be forced to tinker with his future instructions. The club next face Cagliari in the league on Saturday.
