Only a €150m bid from Barcelona could tempt record-breaking Hamsik away from Napoli

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik will only be tempted by a move to La Liga giants Barcelona if there is a €150m bid made for the 31-year-old, an agent has said.

Despite being linked with a move away to play in the Chinese Super League in the summer – with Hamsik himself stating that a move may be best for him at this point in his career – the Slovakian international decided to stay in Italy with his current team.

Hamsik, 31, is highly regarded throughout European football and has naturally attracted the repeated attentions of some of the world’s biggest clubs.

However, Martin Petras – a member of Hamsik’s representatives – has insisted that the player will only consider a move away from Napoli if the Catalonia giants put their hands deep in their pockets to sign the star.

Speaking on Radio Marte, according to Football Italia, Petras said: “They always ask the same things.

“These questions are useless and they irritate me. Yesterday Marek was annoyed when they asked him about it again, he’s playing well and he’s focused on Napoli.

“If Barcelona come and pay €150m then we’ll talk about it…

“Yesterday he proved that he’s a great player and an exemplary professional.”

Hamsik’s legendary career at Napoli

There is no shadow of a doubt that Hamsik is considered a true legend at the 2017/18 Serie A runners-up.

Hamsik has been at Napoli for over a decade since his move from Serie B outfit Brescia for a now bargain transfer fee of £4.8m. He is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 120 goals in 510 appearances in all competitions.

The creative midfielder has been voted in the Serie A Team of the Year three times, provided the most assists in Serie A in two seasons, and has also won two Coppa Italia trophies with Napoli (2011-12 & 2013-14).
