Paris Saint-Germain managed Thomas Tuchel has revealed he did not start Kylian Mbappe or Adrien Rabiot at the weekend due to disciplinary reasons.
The defending Ligue 1 champions beat Marseille 2-0 on Sunday evening to extend their perfect start to the new campaign to 11 straight wins.
Mbappe came off the bench to open the scoring after 65 minutes before Julian Draxler added a second in injury time, for his 10th league goal of the season.
The teenager is currently the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues but Tuchel has admitted Mbappe, as well as midfield Rabiot, were not in Sunday’s starting XI as a disciplinary action.
“It’s a disciplinary decision,” (via Goal).
“Why didn’t Mbappe and Rabiot play?” he told reporters in his post-match press conference.
“It’s a disciplinary situation. We had to, and we have to, do that.
“You can think about as though it’s as if only one player comes late to one session, he is not out, but the collective is always more important than individuals. Always.
“Mbappe gave the best answer when he came onto the field. We expect that from him.
“But I can tell you that I don’t like to deprive myself of Kylian. I hate to play without him in a match like that, but you have to make that decision.

“For me, personally, it was not a good evening. That said, I’m happy with those who were there and played.”
Mbappe and Neymar react to PSG’s record-equalling win
The win made PSG just the second team to record an 11-game winning streak at the start of a season in one of Europe’s top five leagues after Tottenham Hotspur managed the feat in the 1960/61 campaign en route to the first English league and FA Cup double.
And Mbappe, despite not starting the match, believes the win was vital for what PSG are aiming for this season.

“The team needed this victory,” he told Canal+ (via the Independent).
“A great team relies on leaders and they need to make a difference in key moments.
“I think I can take on that role and I did it today. We must continue and stay on the right path. We are competitors and we want to go down in history.”
However, Brazilian forward Neymar was unhappy with the Marseille fans who threw objects at him from the stands when he was on corner duty.
“It was hard to take corners,” he said (via ESPN). “I think that it showed a lack of respect, not only towards me but also to the Marseille players.
“This is not right and should not happen in football. The league must take action. We cannot let it continue that it is dangerous to come and play here each time.”
“If the bottle thrown hits me on the head, it could cut me. It was dangerous. I do not agree with this sort of thing. I hope that the authorities will do what is necessary.”
