"It's pathetic" - BBC pundit unhappy with Liverpool star

Garth Crooks has branded Mohamed Salah ‘pathetic’ after the Egyptian appeared to go down easily under a challenge from Mamadou Sakho.

Liverpool had to work hard for all three points on Saturday, coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace 4-3 in a thrilling encounter at Anfield.

Why was Crooks so angry with Salah? Five things you need to know…

  1. Liverpool maintained their title charge with a dramatic 4-3 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
  2. Salah bagged two goals during the win, but it was his alleged diving antics which had pundits talking after the game.
  3. The Egyptian appeared to go down in stages following a light challenge from Palace defender Mamadou Sakho.
  4. This was not the first time Salah has been accused of diving, with the Egyptian’s play already being closely looked at by all.
  5. BBC pundit Garth Crooks labelled Salah ‘pathetic’ for the alleged dive.

Salah scored twice and played a vital role in a victory which keeps Liverpool four points clear at the top of the Premier League, following Man City’s win over Huddersfield on Sunday, but it was his alleged diving antics that caught the attention of Crooks and Kevin Kilbane in the BBC studio.

“Great players don’t do that. Mo Salah is in the box, Mamadou Sakho has a bit, Salah feels the contact and waits a second and goes down,” Crooks said of Salah’s alleged first-half dive.

“It’s pathetic – he’s messing with his reputation.”

Former Everton winger Kilbane was equally unimpressed, slating Salah for his delayed reaction before falling to the ground under the challenge of Sakho.

“Slight contact yes, but he waits a couple of seconds before going over,” he added on last season’s PFA Player of the Year.

“It is pathetic and you don’t wanna see this in any player’s game.

“It’s poor from Salah for his talent.”

Liverpool face Leicester City on Wednesday.

Twitter reacts to Salah dive vs Crystal Palace

Referee Jonathan Moss decided against showing Salah a yellow card for the incident against Crystal Palace.

However, that hasn’t stopped fans taking to Twitter to both mock and show their anger for what they believe is a blatant example of cheating.
