Chelsea handed Manchester City their first Premier League defeat of the season with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
City dominated the first half but went into the break behind with N’Golo Kante giving Chelsea the lead.
And David Luiz doubled the home side’s advantage with a good header from a corner, ending Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the Premier League.
Here’s how the players rated.
Chelsea
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6 – Did well when called upon in the first half, though was not too busy. His passing was sloppy, however. Was equal to Walker’s free-kick after half-time with a good save.
Cesar Azpicilicueta – 9 – The Spaniard had a brilliant game, looking once again like the reliable player he is known to be after some poor performances. Perfectly combatted Sane’s pace and produced a good block to deny the German in the first half when he looked certain to score. And gave Sterling little joy when the Englishman switched onto his flank in the second half.
Antonio Rudiger – 8 – Had a good game, producing a wall in front of the Chelsea goal. Increasingly becoming an invaluable part of Chelsea’s defence.
David Luiz – 8 – Enjoyed a confident start against Sterling, forcing the Englishman to switch out wide later in the first half. Lead from the back and it was his long ball to Pedro which kicked off the move for Chelsea’s goal. And he doubled Chelsea’s lead with just over 10 minutes to go with a header from a corner. A completely different man to the one criticised for his performance against Spurs.
Marcos Alonso – 6 – Alonso did not have the best game once again, being given a tough time by Sterling. Defensively he looked capable of errors and his passing was poor, often giving the ball away in his own half. Had a slightly better second half but is still the weak link.
N’Golo Kante – 7 – Pressed well at the start but his passing did let him down at times, though there were not many options for him. But his new role played off when the Frenchman gave Chelsea the lead just before half-time, with a late run into the box before finishing with aplomb.
N'Golo Kante scores with @ChelseaFC's only 1st half shot as @ManCity now trail for the first time in @premierleague since at Wolves in August.

Jorginho – 6 – Wasn’t able to have too much influence on the first half, perhaps missing a target man to aim for. He had a bit more luck after half-time as the game stretched but still not near the levels he produced at the start of the season.
Mateo Kovacic – 7 – Did his bit defensively in the first half, which would explain why Sarri opted for him on the left of his midfield. Had to be taken off after an hour with an injury, which hurt Chelsea.
Pedro – 7 – Had a quiet first half, often swapping wings with Willian. But he did play a good part in Chelsea’s goal. Got into the game more after half-time and could have doubled Chelsea’s lead but his shot was saved. Did his bit defensively in the second half to help Chelsea secure the win.
Eden Hazard – 7 – Playing as the false nine, Hazard was harmless for most of the first half. However, it was his smart pass to the edge of the box which set up Kante’s goal. And the Belgian got his second assist when his corner was headed in by Luiz.

Willian – 7 – Like Pedro, Willian had a quiet first half with Chelsea defending a lot. But he produced a good run off the ball, losing Walker, before helping in the build up to the goal. Did his bit defensively in the second half before being taken off.
Substitutes:
Ross Barkley (for Kovacic 64) – 7 – A forced change for Chelsea which threatened to disrupt their good play, but Barkley slotted into the midfield well and helped his side keep on top.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (for Willian 75) – 6 – Added power to the Chelsea attack, causing City’s defence a different kind of problem.
Olivier Giroud (for Hazard 90) – N/A – A late sub.
Manchester City
Ederson – 6 – Had a very quiet first half with Chelsea having just one shot on goal. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, it was Kante’s goal – though he could do little about it. Produced a good save to deny Willan’s free-kick minutes into the second half.
Kyle Walker – 6 – The Englishman was defensively strong for most of the first half, but his one poor moment allowed Willian to run into space in the build up to Chelsea’s goal. Got forward well too to cause problems against Alonso.
John Stones – 7 – Was comfortable on the ball throughout. But records will show he was on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat despite having little to do.
Aymeric Laporte – 7 – Like Stones he was a big part of City building their play out from the back but got no rewards from it.
Fabian Delph – 5 – The slightly less used of the two City full-backs, Delph showed some signs of sloppy play in the first half and did not improve much after half-time.
Bernardo Silva – 6 – Got forward a lot and caused Chelsea problems around their area, though would have potentially liked to do more to hurt them. Could not get City back into the game, however, with a relatively poor second half.
Fernandinho – 7 – Dominated the midfield in the first half, giving Jorginho very little time on the ball while simultaneously keeping Hazard quiet for large parts. His impact lessened after half-time but the Brazilian was still impressive.
David Silva – 6 – The Spaniard was his usual self, looking to get City forward on the ball and combining with Sane. But his game was cut short midway through the second half with a hamstring injury. City missed his influence as the game went on.
Riyad Mahrez – 6 – Started out wide but then moved into the centre midway through the first half, causing problems in front of the Chelsea defence. Struggled after half-time to have the same effect.
Raheem Sterling – 7 – Had little luck as the false nine but enjoyed himself up against Alonso after switching out wide, giving the Spaniard big problems both on and off the ball. Then moved to the left after Jesus was brought on and had a little more luck against Azpilicueta than Sane did, but not enough.
Leroy Sane – 5 – Tried to get at Azpilicueta throughout the first half but he was well matched. The man caught out for Chelsea’s goal, falling asleep on the edge of the area, allowing Kante to ghost in and open the scoring. Taken off just after half-time as City looked to get back into the game.
Substitutes:
Gabriel Jesus (for Sane 53) – 5 – Brought on shortly after half-time to give City a recognised striker, but the Brazilian did not have much luck.
Ilkay Gundogan (for David Silva 68) – 5 – A forced change for City with David Silva injured and his part in Chelsea’s second goal will be looked at, losing David Luiz from the corner.
Phil Foden (for Mahrez 84) – N/A – A late sub.
