Brazil legend Ronaldo’s “most magical” moment came against Man Utd

Iconic Brazilian striker Ronaldo has revealed that his most special moment in football came when he scored a hat-trick against Manchester United back in 2003.

Having won countless trophies at both club and international level, Ronaldo is considered to be one of the best strikers to have ever played the game.

Manchester United vs Real Madrid – Ronaldo’s most special football memory

1. Ronaldo led the line for the Spanish giants in their Champions League quarter-final second leg clash at Old Trafford.

2. His side were beaten 4-3 on the night but still qualified on aggregate.

3. Ronaldo netted a memorable hat-trick and was given a standing ovation by everyone in the stadium when he was substituted.

4. Altogether, the Brazilian managed 104 goals in 177 appearances for Real Madrid.

Despite a wide range of memorable occasions for one of the best players to have ever emerged from Brazil, it is the reception Ronaldo received at Old Trafford that he says is his most special moment in football.

“It was the Champions League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford,” Ronaldo claimed.

“It was a beautiful and open duel, and I scored three goals then. It was amazing.

“The best came when I was changed. The whole stadium said goodbye to me with a huge ovation.

“Everyone stood up, I would never expect something like that. I was surprised by this spontaneous reaction of fans, for whom I was a rival after all.

“It was a magical moment, one of the most important in my life. Football is everything to me. When I look back, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my career.”

Ronaldo’s incredible career

The icon enjoyed an 18-year professional football career, appearing for some of the best clubs in Europe.

After being scouted playing for Cruzeiro in Brazil, Ronaldo moved on to Dutch side PSV, before Barcelona snapped him up two years later.

He spent a year there before a move across Europe to Italy, enjoying a five-year spell with Inter Milan.

However, Ronaldo is mostly known for his time with Real Madrid, where he spent another five years between 2002 and 2007. A one year spell with AC Milan followed before he finished his career with Corinthians in 2011.

Ronaldo also had an incredible 18-year career with Brazil, scoring 44 goals in 68 appearances. He won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002.
