The second leg of the 2018 Copa Libertadores between River Plate and Boca Juniors has been delayed by at least an hour due to crowd trouble and safety concerns.
The game was set to be contested River Plate’s Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti (El Monumental) stadium with the two sides level at 2-2 after the first leg.
However, on its approach to the ground, the Boca Juniors team coach was attacked by River Plate fans, with Police having to use pepper spray and tear gas to put a stop to the trouble.
The damage caused to the Boca Juniors bus meant that a number of players were exposed to the gas, with the Independent’s Miguel Delaney claiming that three of their players had been taken to hospital.
