James Milner is Liverpool’s most consistent player, says Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold has named Liverpool teammate James Milner as the most consistent player he has ever played with.

Milner joined the Anfield club from Manchester City on a free transfer in 2015 and has played 148 games for them since.

The 32-year-old has always been a hard-working player but this season has seen Milner’s form hit new heights, with the midfielder scoring three goals and completing more passes per 90 minutes (59.16) than any other midfielder at the club.

And Milner’s form has not been lost on 20-year-old Alexander-Arnold, who has been singing the praises of the ex-England international.

“I’d say James Milner is the most consistent player I’ve ever played or trained with – I’ve never seen him have a bad session or a bad game,” Alexander-Arnold told Liverpool’s official website).

“He’s so reliable and so versatile as well and that’s everything you want in a player.

“He’ll put his body on the line for the team and he’s non-stop. When times are hard, he’ll put in a tackle that lifts everyone and gets everyone up for the game. He brings the energy that the team needs.”

It isn’t just on the pitch where Milner is a role model, with Alexander-Arnold also speaking of the influence the former Leeds United man has at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.

The right-back added: “Off the pitch, he holds the highest standards that I’ve probably ever seen in someone.

“He demands a lot from himself and seeing that on a daily basis is incredible. He’ll never give up in training, he’ll never stop running, and it gives you that motivation to do the same.”

Alexander-Arnold is in the latest England squad that faced the USA in a friendly on Thursday night, with the Liverpool youngster getting his name on the scoresheet as the Three Lions ran out 3-0 winners, before taking on Croatia in the Uefa Nations League on Sunday.
