The Premier League is getting ready for another blockbuster gameweek of football.
Saturday sees Cardiff City welcome Brighton & Hove Albion in the lunch-time kick-off whilst Tottenham Hotspur travel south for a London derby against Crystal Palace in what is sure to be a fascinating affair.
A day later the Premier League’s three remaining unbeaten teams will all put their streak on the line. Liverpool host Fulham at Anfield in the early game before their Merseyside rivals Everton take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
However, the game on everyone’s lips will be the 177th Manchester derby, as Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City look to get one over a buoyant United side following their unexpected Champions League away to Juventus.
We’ve had a look at the fixtures and had two of the Squawka team come up with predictions:
Cardiff City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
Mohamed Moallim: Cardiff need to be careful or they soon find themselves adrift. Seven defeats from their last eight games isn’t exactly the kind of form any club wants to find themselves enjoying and Brighton, despite seeing their momentum derailed last time out at the hands of Everton, will no doubt fancy their chances leaving Wales with all three points. 0-1 Brighton.
Harry Edwards: Despite the defeat to Everton last week, Brighton have been really good recently while Cardiff are yet to get running in the Premier League. The Bluebirds may get up and running at some point, but it won’t be this weekend. 0-2 Brighton.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Glenn Murray has scored 50% of Brighton’s Premier League goals this season, only Danny Ings has scored a greater proportion of goals for a Premier League side (57%).
Huddersfield Town vs. West Ham United
MM: West Ham needed that. A 4-2 goal triumph over Burnley saw a run of three matches without a solitary Premier League victory come to an end and manager Manuel Pellegrini can breathe a small sigh of relief, but they visit a Huddersfield Town side on the back off a much-needed win of their own. 1-2 West Ham
HE: Huddersfield finally got their first win of the season but they will have to wait more than a week for another one, up against a West Ham side finding their feet after a poor start. Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson are finding the goal and it could be a long afternoon for the Terriers. 1-3 West Ham.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Grady Diangana completed 6 take-ons in West Ham’s previous league game against Burnley last week, no player has managed more in a single game this season
Leicester City vs. Burnley
MM: Leicester City play at home for the first time since the tragic events that claimed the life of their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha so the visit of Burnley should be another emotionally charged affair. On the pitch at least the Foxes have the upper hand. 2-0 Leicester.
HE: Last week’s win over Cardiff was a big one for Leicester and you’d fully expect them to keep it going for Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in their first home match since the tragedy. 1-0 Leicester.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Ben Chilwell has created more chances from open play at full back than any other Leicester player (11).
Newcastle United vs. AFC Bournemouth
MM: Newcastle United ended a 10-match winless streak last Saturday with a slender 1-0 win over Watford and Rafael Benitez’s men face another stern challenge in the guise of Bournemouth who have been this season’s surprise package. 0-2 Bournemouth.
HE: Bournemouth are on a roll this season and with Callum Wilson celebrating his first England senior call-up, the Cherries should have far too much for an out-of-sorts Newcastle side. 0-3 Bournemouth.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Callum Wilson has been directly involved in 10 goals in the Premier League this season – already as many as he was involved in during the 28 league games he played for Bournemouth last season.
Southampton vs. Watford
MM: Southampton are looking to bounce back following last weekend’s mauling at the hands of champions Manchester City but they go into Saturday’s showdown with Watford having won just one of their last 16 league matches at home. 0-2 Watford.
HE: Southampton fell apart against Man City last week and don’t really look like a team ready to put up a fight against anyone. Javi Gracia has his Watford side playing relatively well and that should be enough for a victory at St. Mary’s. 0-2 Watford.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Abdoulaye Doucoure has scored in each of his three Premier League appearances against Southampton, against no other side has he scored more.
Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham Hotspur
MM: Since their narrow 0-1 win at Huddersfield Town in early September it’s been difficult for Crystal Palace who have failed to win their subsequent six Premier League outings (losing four of those) and Spurs, on the back off five wins from their last six, will no doubt make life for the Eagles uncomfortable. 0-1 Tottenham.
HE: Spurs are enjoying their best start to a Premier League season and recently kept their slim hopes of Champions League knockout football alive in midweek. Palace may have had a week off but will fall apart later in the game as they did against Chelsea last weekend. 0-2 Tottenham.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Harry Kane has scored more away goals than any other player in the Premier League so far(5). He has also scored four goals in his last four games in all competitions.
Liverpool vs. Fulham
MM: It’s going to be a matter of damage limitations for a Fulham side who are on a five-match losing streak when they visit Anfield, and an angry Liverpool, this weekend. 3-0 Liverpool.
HE: Red Star Belgrade may have shocked Liverpool in midweek but Fulham will do no such thing. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking for revenge against anyone and, hurting, could bang the final nail in Slavisa Jokanovic’s coffin. 4-0 Liverpool.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Mohamed Salah has created 21 chances from open play this season (second only to David Silva) and has been involved in four goals in Liverpool’s last three league games.
Chelsea vs. Everton
MM: Everton are looking a different proposition under Marco Silva this season and shouldn’t be underestimated by Chelsea who fielded some of their big guns on Thursday. 2-1 Chelsea.
HE: Whether or not you agree with Eden Hazard’s inclusion against BATE in midweek, Everton are going to prove a tough opponent for Chelsea and should the Blues be as uninspiring as they were on Thursday Sarri’s side may struggle to keep their winning run going. 1-1 draw.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Eden Hazard is averaging a goal or assist once every 63 minutes in the Premier League.
Arsenal vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
MM: Back-to-back draws has somewhat derailed Arsenal but they’re looking imperious at home and that could prove too much for Wolves who are currently on a three-match losing streak. 2-0 Arsenal.
HE: Wolves have proven a problem for the Premier League’s bigger clubs this season and almost came from 3-0 down against Spurs last week. But the key word is almost. Losing their last three games, things just aren’t shining on Wolves and Arsenal should get a hard-fought victory. 2-1 Arsenal.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been involved in seven goals in five Premier League appearances against newly Promoted sides since his debut last season; more than any other Arsenal player.
Manchester City vs. Manchester United
MM: Last minute winners away to Bournemouth and more shockingly at Juventus has no doubt boosted morale at Old Trafford but Man Utd face their sternest test at the English champions and local rivals Man City who are getting better and better under Pep Guardiola. 2-0 Man City.
HE: Manchester United may have mounted a late comeback against Juventus in midweek but it required a lot of energy while City eased past Shakhtar. Pep Guardiola’s side are on another level to their neighbours and it should show. 3-1 Man City.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Anthony Martial has scored in each of the last 4 Premier League games for Manchester United and aiming to become the seventh different United player to score in 5+ in a row.
